It is hoped that results collected by the clinic will be clinically significant at the same time as offering an improved quality of life for patients. Cancer cells are very different from normal cells in the way they convert food to energy. These differences are well known and documented in clinical research. To date, research has been undertaken with existing prescription medicines, including metformin (diabetes), statins (cholesterol) and antibiotics (infections), to demonstrate the positive effects these individual drugs have on slowing down the rate of growth of cancer cells and tumours. Currently these treatments are not licensed (or approved) for the treatment of cancer, despite having demonstrated positive effects. The Care Oncology Clinic aims to provide this treatment option and will report in case studies the long-term effects of these existing, tolerable treatments on reducing cancer cell growth. www.careoncologyclinic.com / +44 (0)20 7580 3266 PATIENT INFORMATION PACK THE PATIENT JOURNEY What will happen at the Clinic? 1. 2.
