What Is In-School Marketing
Teaching Our Kids?
Although parents play a major role in shaping their children’s eating baits, kids spend more than half of their
waking hours at school. Unfortunately, schools and school buses have become a major target for marketers
who want to sell unhealthy foods and beverages. Why? Children are a captive audience, especially in schools
without their parents around. Food marketing influences children’s food preferences,
purchase requests, diets, and overall health.
With today’s alarming childhood obesity rates, it’s time for us to take a stand.
Let’s free children from the pressure to consume unhealthy foods and beverages
by telling marketers, “Don’t sell us shortTM!”
