Create a book about your own Civilization. Make a title page for your book by:
1. Make up a name for your city-state. Be creative!!
2. On a blank sheet of paper, draw a map of the Mesopotamia area (See map on p.
71 in your textbook). Label these parts on your map: Mediterranean Sea, Persian
Gulf, Tigris River, Euphrates River, Red Sea
3. Place a star where your civilization will be located and label it.
4. Place the name of your civilization on your title page in bold letters for the title.
5. Place your by-line on your title page in bold letters.
6. Color in your map.

Writing system:
Create your own writing system for your civilization.
1. On a blank sheet of paper, write the subtitle: “Writing System” on the top of the
page.
2. Make a t-chart showing what the characters for your writing system looks like and
what they mean. You must have at least 10 characters. What do you want to call
your writing system? Be creative and write the title of your writing system on the
top of your t-chart.

1. On a blank sheet of paper, write the subtitle on the top of your page: “Government
and Social Classes”
2. Draw a pyramid or web showing what your government and social classes are
like.
3. Write a paragraph describing your government and social class system. Answer
the following questions:
a. What would you call the leader of your civilization (ex.: lugal)?
b. Do you have a noble class? What are the responsibilities of the noble
class?
c. Do you have a working class? What are the responsibilities of the people
in the noble class?
d. Do you have a lower class? What are the responsibilities of the people in
the lower class?
e. Do you have slaves? If you do, who is allowed to own a slave? What
rights do your slaves have?
f. Are your people allowed to vote? If they are, who is allowed to vote?
