Statistical Datamining is the heart of Bioinformatics. While, minimum-variance designs,
clustering and Hidden Markov Modeling are well known and extensively used, the
concept and applications of relational probabilistic decision trees and knowledge-based
correlation and nonparametric modeling are rather new in deciphering protein structural
genomics, protein folding and protein-protein binding from the existing gene and protein
databanks. The talk will highlight importance of these with special focus on proteindomain predictions and two new softwares ParaDes and PROPAINOR developed in
author’s lab.
