 Suborder is Lacertilia or Sauria.
 4,470 different species, only 2 are venomous.
 Have visible ears, which are holes in the side of the
head.
 Heaviest lizard is the Indonesian Komodo Dragon
 Longest lizard is the Crocodile Monitor
 Smallest lizard is the Jaragua Lizard
 Suborder is Serpentes
 2,920 different species, either venomous or non-venomous.
 Believed to hear very low-pitched sounds
 Have a spectacle or clear scale over their eye.
 Some snakes have pit organs on their face.
 Smallest snakes are in the Blind Snake families.
 Largest snakes are Reticulated Pythons and Green
Anacondas.
 Suborder is Amphisbaenia
 156 different species, most are fossorial.
 Scales are arranged in rings and separated by grooves.
 Sizes can range from 3.1 to 32 inches.
 The IUCN lists 243 species of Squamata either extinct
or at the risk of becoming extinct.
 14 extinct, 70 critically endangered, 159 endangered.
 1 extinct and 4 endangered in the United States.
