SEVEN YEARS WAR
TYLER SHAW
WHAT WAS THE WAR
• The Seven Years' War was a war fought between 1754 and
1763, the main conflict occurring in the seven-year period
from 1756 to 1763. It involved every European great
power of the time except the Ottoman Empire, spanning
five continents, and affected Europe, the Americas, West
Africa, India, and the Philippines. The conflict split Europe
into two coalitions, led by the Kingdom of Great Britain
on one side and the Kingdom of France on the other. For
the first time, aiming to curtail Britain and Prussia's evergrowing might, France formed a grand coalition of its own,
which ended with failure as Britain rose as the world's
predominant power, altering the European balance of
power.
WHO WAS INVOLVED
• Almost every major power in Europe at the
time, besides the Ottoman Empire, was involved.
• It featured Britain vs. France and their various
allies struggling for power. This is a trend that
has repeated over and over all throughout
history.
• One influential European family was the
Rothschild's specifically Mayer Amschel
Rothschild, who was recognized by the British
government as being a resource during the war.
WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME
• The Seven Years' War, also known as the French
and Indian War in the United States, was won by
the British, Prussians and their allies. The British
overpowered the French and their allies
claiming victory. The war pitted European
colonial forces against one another across four
continents.
• The French lost most of their colonial claims as
well as many of their allies.
• Spain, a French ally also lost control of Florida
to the British.
REPERCUSSIONS
• When the Seven Years' War (also known
as the “French and Indian War”) ended
with the Treaty of Paris in 1763, Britain
began to impose taxes on its colonies in
America to help pay for the War and for
the ongoing costs of defense. Therefore
the end of the seven years war gave
Britain a false sense of invincibility which
was largely responsible for the American
revolution as well
