How did the Germanic Tribe’s culture effect
Europe and who were they?




They were a northern European tribe split into
several groups
Their language is called Proto-Germanic
Also known as the Goths and Vandals.
They could be very war like.



They were started in northern Europe
Used to live in Denmark, Sweden, Norway,
and Germany
They also invaded Illyrian and Celtic land





The ancient Goths were a barbarian Germanic
tribe who terrorized Romans and were always
on the move
They sacked many Roman cities
Then the name Gothic in the became an art
style that was considered a poor style because
Romans didn’t like Goths
In the 18th century, Gothic became a writing
style that used elements of horror.
Now Gothic is a style of dressing using lots of
black



The Vandals were a Germanic tribe who also
terrorized Romans
In 455, the Vandals raided and destroyed Rome
100 years later, the Vandals were conquered by
the Byzantine Empire.






The Romans expanded a lot
They invaded some
Germanic territory
In the Migration Era, most
Germanics were on the move
because of the Romans
Romans were more advanced
and wealthy, so they won
most conflicts
Romans also didn’t like the
Germanic culture
The Vandals, a Germanic
tribe, eventually brought the
downfall of Rome.

Wodanaz
Punraz
Teiwaz
Nerbuz
Wodanaz Greek= Hermes Norse= Odin
 Punraz = Greek= Ares Norse= Tyr
 Teiwaz=Roman= Jupiter Norse= Thor
Nerbuz Norse= Njord, Roman= Terra



Teiwaz was the same as Zeus. They have the
same powers. Thor, has slightly different
powers because in one myth, he brought a ram
back from the dead. In the Greek, Zeus cant do
that.
Wodanaz is the Norse equal of Odin, the king
of the gods and god of poetry. But in Greek,
Hermes is equal to Wodanaz, but Hermes isn't
a king, or the god of poetry.


Punraz is equal to Ares in Greek, and Tyr in
Norse. All of them are gods of war.
Nerbuz is equal to the Norse god Njord, and
the Greek god Gaia. Njord is the god of
strength, Gaia is the Earth. They all represent
strength.
