It is called Mainstream Jazz
The Little bit that I listened to it, it only had and cello and double bass
The Cello was plucking instead of bowing
There were a lot of flattened notes in the cello part
It goes at a rather steady tempo
The cellist only plays on the lower strings

The cello has one of the main features
It’s not really the typical jazz song the you would be used to
It doesn’t have the brass instrumental solos. It is kind of based around
the cello solo
It doesn’t go at a very fast tempo.
It gives the cello ample amount of time to make full sound out of the
notes that he is plucking
To get the fullness of the notes, the cellist is only playing on the lower
strings
The interesting use of the vibrato in his solos. It is a quick but distorted
vibrato
Almost like
being in love

In most of his pieces it is a slow tempo. Not the regular type of Jazz
tempo
The composer has done this so the cello can get its full potential
The double bass and cello often play together and play crochets through
the piece
The brass instruments don’t play a lot or loudly when the cello is on
This song has the band revolving mostly around the cello and whenever
the cello plays the rest of the band either don’t play or they play really
softly

The “D” string is the main string which is used in this piece and all of Ray
Brown’s pieces. He has done this because it
