GME III
General description
Input / Output
The General Measuring Equipment III
(GME III) is a flexible and powerful tool that
can be used for various dimension measuring applications by using inductive probes or
analogue inputs with temperature compensation for Statistical Process Control and
Post Process Control with interface to Siemens PLC System (e.g. S7-1200).
The system is the successor of the GME I,
GEM II and GME II+ which has an installed
base of 1 500 units.
A Siemens PLC can be connected to the
measurement box over the LAN. The Siemens controller has full control of the measurement jobs in automatic mode.
Depending on the used Siemens controller
different number of digital inputs and outputs can be used to fully control the measurement process.
Without Siemens controller the on-board
digital I/Os can be used to trigger measurement jobs or sort the measuring part.
The onboard digital inputs can be configured for basic control of a measurement
process. The onboard digital outputs can
signal different results of a measurement.
For simple controller applications the internal digital I/Os can be used.
Transducer input
For half bridge (e.g. Tesa GT21/22) and full
bridge (e.g. Mahr 1301) inductive probes
different measurement boxes exist. Analogue transducers are also supported as
general temperature transducers.
User Interface
Closed loop control
The optional graphical user interface simplifies operator interaction
with the GME III.
The software needs a PC with Microsoft Windows installed (7, or
newer). Full keyboard control is standard. The GME III can be safeguarded from unauthorised use by means of password protection,
with different levels of authorisation.
With the self tuning control system compensation pulses can be sent
automatically to a production machine for closed loop control.
Measurement calculation
The GME III supports static and dynamic measurement modes. A
formula parser allows advanced measuring parameter calculation.
More than one input can be used simultaneously for calculating a
parameter. The measurements can be compensated automatically
for temperature differences by using a temperature sensor via analogue input.
Statistics
Statistical process control detects automatically out of control conditions in accordance with the SKF QT1 and Ford AIAG standards. The
GME III allows eight simultaneous control charts.

Export of measuring parameter
Measurement data can be exported via QDAS transfer format to QSSTAT or to Excel format (CSV).
Mechanical mounting
The GME III Basic may be mounted on a 19” rack, a wall or simply set
on the desk top.
The measuring box of Starter kit should be mounted together with
a PC (Mini PC) into an electrical cabinet or as close as possible to the
transducer inputs.
The GME III Touch version can be used for manual application as
standalone version.
