Hygimed, the Process
Hygimed is working in 12
minute cycle of 4 stages:
1. Loading
2. Shredding and
disinfection
3. Waste release and wash
All operation is automatic
with no touch or exposure
of the operator.
Stage 1 – Loading
Up to 80l (~20kg) of
pathogenic medical waste,
including sharps, dialysis
sets, laboratory waste,
bacteria cultures, fluids, etc.
Close and start
Upon pushing START the Hygimed is
filled with water simultaneously
with pumping disinfection chemical
in. When a water level sensor give
signal the shredder and pump are
operated and the process starts.
Stage 2 – Shredding and Disinfection
The shredder disintegrates and
grinds the waste, while the
pump mixes the waste and
returns the shredded material
for additional shredding during
12 min of operation time.
Stage 3 – Release, separation and
Wash
When Hygimed reach the end
of the cycle, a release valve is
open and the shredded waste
mixed with the processed water
flow into the separator that
separate between solids and
liquid.

Hygimed is equipped with a sophisticated but easy-to-operate control board.
The control unit has friendly touch screen
display and capability for long distance
connection for follow on control and service.
Controller
The controller display
report the stage of
operation, malfunction
and option for manual
operation.
The controller can be
wireless connected for
long distance operation,
follow on or assistance.
Manual operation
Manual display make it
possible to operate the
Hygimed from the
controller without
touching the electric
board. All functions are
available on the touch
screen with visual
display of the function
of any element of the
mechanical system.
