APPARATUS AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT LABORATORY
Laboratory presents the structural elements of electrical installations of high, medium and low
voltage, in terms of construction and operation. The laboratory is equipped with the latest generation of
apparatus and equipment, including: vacuum medium voltage circuit breaker; SF6 medium and high voltage
circuit breakers; low voltage circuit breakers; miniature circuit breakers; contactors; electronic relays;
programmable logic relays; high and medium voltage switchgears; surge arresters. Also, the laboratory is
equipped with: installations for high currents testing max. 40 kA; stands for testing electric apparatus with
variable voltage and adjustable current; monitoring and diagnosis systems for electrical equipment etc.
High voltage circuit breaker with SF6, GL-311 AREVA type: rated voltage - 123 kV; rated current 3150 A; rated short-circuit breaking current - 40 kA; rated short-circuit making current - 104 kA; spring
operating mechanism - FK3-1.
Medium voltage circuit breaker with vacuum, VD4-ABB type: rated voltage - 12 kV; rated current 1250 A; rated short-circuit breaking current - 25 kA; rated short-circuit making current - 63 kA; spring operating
mechanism - EL-1.
Medium voltage circuit breaker with SF6, HD4-ABB type: rated voltage - 24 kV; rated current - 2500
A; rated short-circuit breaking current - 25 kA; rated short-circuit making current - 63 kA; spring operating
mechanism - ESH9.
Electrical laboratory activity is focuses mainly on: the study of thermal and electro-dynamic stresses of
conductors; study of features and functionality of electrical equipment; testing at current of long and short
duration, respectively with variable voltage; monitoring and diagnosis of electrical equipment etc.
