GODSPELL Book by John Michael Tebelak Music by Stephen Schwartz Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz Based on The Gospel According to St. Matthew (& St. Luke) sic Two Acts, Book Musical, Pop / Rock, Rated G Original Off-Broadway version Conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell is one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time. Additional song “By My Side” was written by composer Peggy Gordon and lyricist Jay Hamburger. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew & St. Luke, and featuring a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz, Godspell boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, "Day By Day." As the cast performs "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All For The Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side," the parables of Jesus Christ humanly and playfully come to life. Drawing from various theatrical styles, Godspell is a groundbreaking and unique reflection on the life of Jesus, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love. Contemporized to fit modern audiences, this production reaches people of all ages and backgrounds. Creighton’s production of Godspell is directed by New York director, Rebecca Hengstenberg. Creighton music faculty member Stephen Sheftz serves as Musical Director, with choreography from Creighton Musical Theatre majors Elizabeth Mark and Joe Wright. Creighton Theatre Faculty will design: Mark Krejci, set; Lindsay Pape, costumes; and Bill Van Deest, lighting. The ten performances include: Friday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 – Friday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 27 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for General Admission; $12 for Senior Citizens; and $5 for Creighton Students and Faculty
