I hold a PhD in food microbiology and I am currently working as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the National Food Institute in the Bacterial Ecophysiology and Biotechnology group. I have worked in different areas of microbiology, studying survival of bacterial pathogens in food products, the effect of bacteriocins on the intestinal microbiota, and more recently adhesion and biofilm formation of food-relevant bacteria to inert surfaces. The project I am currently working on investigates the use of marine bacteria and their metabolites as an environmental friendly way to prevent fouling on marine surfaces.
