Put the coin and draw the
power
Title of the Project: put coin draw power
Working Principle: Microcontroller based

 Nischal.N.Gowda-1Si11EC410
 Shridhara.K.S-1SI11EC420
 Arjun.A.D-1SI10EC012
Features:
1) This system uses a sensor for detecting the coin or token.
2) Microcontroller counts the number of coins/token and shows the count on a seven segment
display.
3) When load switch is closed the relay connects the load and the coin count on display,
starts decrementing.
4) When the count decrement to zero the relay de-energies to disconnects the load.
5) Easy to Install.
6) Cost Effective.
7) Any metal token can be used.
ABSTRACT
In guest house, lodges, hotels and rest houses the power consumption is not
measurable by the customer and the owner. So that it is important to control the
consumption of power proportional to the payment otherwise the owner pays the
higher bills and faces the loss in running the hotel. In this project we develop the prepaid system for power consumption by using some simple discreet components and
microcontroller programmed for desired output.
SYNOPSES
The system makes use of a LDR and a light source for detecting the token/coin,
coin interrupt the beam of light for a second to generate a pulse which is detected by
the IC NE556 (dual timer) at the pin number 6 and feed to the microcontroller which
displays the number of counts in the form of pulses by using seven segment decoding
IC CD4577 in digit form. When we close the load switch it trigger the transistor at
load side and operate the relay and supply the power to the room at the same time the
number of counts starts decreasing and when reached to zero to disconnect the power
supply. So this is the cheapest and the best system.
BLOCK DIAGRAM:
Block diagram of put the coin and draw the power
Coin sensor and dual timer: It consists of constant light source with LDR (light
dependent resistor) whenever a coin is dropped light intensity falling on LDR
changes ,resistance changes it alters the pulse width of the timer .
Micro controller: It is the heart of circuit. It accepts the input from timer this is
processed and control signal is generated so as to trigger the relay, manage coin
count
7-segment decoder: It accepts the BCD input from the micro controller and
decodes it to show on the 7-segment display.
Relay: It is used to connect and disconnect the load from the circuit depending
on received control signals
COMPONETS REQUIRED:
Dual Timer IC, Seven Segment Decoder IC, Microcontroller, Regulator IC, Transistors,
Diodes, Relays, Resistors, Seven Segment Display, LED’s, LDR.
APPLICATIONS:
1) Use in Hotels, Lodges, Guest House, Rest House.
2) Use in Game Consoles.
3) Public Services such as cyber café, music stations, automatic mobile charging points.
SCOPE FOR ADVANCEMENT:
* Using pre-paid card in place of token/coin to make more advanced system.
