1. North America
This area is a major manufacturing region of the world. The “American
Manufacturing Belt” also known as the “Rust Belt,” is one of the worlds
largest manufacturing regions. This region encompasses much of the North
Eastern United States and the very southern part of Ontario. It includes states
such as Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. The major exports of this region
are automobiles, coal, iron and ore.
2. Eastern and Western Europe
This major manufacturing region spreads in small areas throughout Eastern
Russia and Eastern Europe but is most dense around Moscow, The United
Kingdom and what is referred to as the Rhine-Ruhr Valley. The major exports
of this area are oil, synthetic plastic, machinery, wood and raw metals.
3. East Asia
This major manufacturing region is responsible for the export of much of the
world’s textiles, clothing, automobiles and electronics. The regions are most
concentrated at places that are close to ports by the Pacific Ocean. These
include the Northern region that surrounds Beijing, the Change region that
surrounds Shanghai and Nanjing, the Guangdong region that surrounds Hong
Kong and smaller districts on South Korea and Japan.
