SAMPLE SPECIFICATION Note: Modify the items in italics according to your specific job requirements. ITEM L-150 INSTALLATION OF PA-4 POWER ADAPTERS DESCRIPTION 150-1.1 This item shall consist of furnishing and installing the PA-4 power adapter in accordance with these specifications. This item shall also include all wire and cable connections, the furnishing and installing of all necessary base cans, conduits and fittings. It shall also include the testing of the installation and all incidentals necessary to place the lights in operation as completed units to the satisfaction of the Engineer. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS 150-2.1 POWER ADAPTERS. The power adapter shall be as manufactured by ADB Airfield Solutions (www.adb-air.com) or approved equal. 150-2.2 EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED. Power adapters shall be supplied for the total quantity as shown on the plans. Each lot shipment of power adapters shall include two Instruction Manuals. 150-2.3 POWER ADAPTER. The PA-4 power adapter shall be able to provide maintenance-free power for the {L-849 Xenon REIL system} {L-806 incandescent lighted wind cone} {L-807 incandescent lighted wind cone} from the series circuit. The PA-4 power adapter shall provide regulated 120VAC, 60Hz {120/240V AC} at 670 VA when connected to an airport 2.8A to 6.6A(5-step) {4.8A to 6.6A (3-step)} {8.5A to 20A (5-step)} series circuit. The PA-4 power adapter shall be oil-filled for better heat distribution and inherently self-protecting in that the output voltage will drop if a fault occurs. An internal tap shall be available on the PA-4 to reduce the loading on a 3-step CCR by 15%. The top shall be easily removed to replace internal fuses if necessary. The top shall be sealed using a waterproof gasket. {The PA-4 power adapter shall have a current sensing option that eliminates the need for a separate L-830 isolation transformer when using ADB Airfield Solutions L-849 Xenon REIL system. An extra lead shall be provided for the current sensing connection.} PA-4 power adapters shall be watertight and maintenance-free, allowing direct earth burial {installation on the surface of the ground} {in a 16-inch diameter by 24-inch deep L-867D base}. CONSTRUCTION METHODS 150-3.1 PLACING THE POWER ADAPTER. The contractor shall furnish and install each power adapter as specified in the proposal and shown in the plans. The primary leads on the power adapter shall be connected directly into the series circuit. 150-3.2 TESTS. All power adapters shall be fully tested by continuous operation for not less than 24 hours as a completed system prior to acceptance. The test shall include operating the constant current regulator in each step not less than 10 times at the beginning and end of the 24-hour test. The rated output voltage shall be present at the beginning and end of the test. The load placed on the output of the power adapter shall operate properly at each constant current regulator step setting. METHOD OF MEASUREMENT 150-4.1 MEASUREMENT. The quantity of power adapters to be paid for under this item shall be for the total quantity of power adapters installed and two Instruction Manuals (per lot) and accepted as completed units, in place, ready for operation. BASIS FOR PAYMENT 150-5.1 PAYMENT. Payment will be made at the contract unit price for the completed total quantity of power adapters installed, in place by the Contractor, and accepted by the Engineer. This price shall be full compensation for furnishing all materials and for all preparation, assembly, and installation of these materials, and for all labor, equipment, tools, and incidentals necessary to complete this item. Payment will be made under: Item L-150-5.1 PA-4 power adapters, in Placeāper each END OF ITEM L-150
