Appendix A Sample Descriptions Theresa E. McReynolds Tables A.1 and A.2 describe the provenience and geology, respectively, of the 71 rock samples. Table A.3 contains similar descriptions of the nine artifacts, and Table A.4 lists their metric attributes. Photographs of the rock samples and artifacts are presented in Figures A.1-A.9. For each specimen, three photographs are displayed at a 1:1 scale. A dry view of the cut surface reveals the true color of the fresh specimen, but some textural characteristics may be obscured by saw marks. A wet view of the same surface illuminates textural details but darkens the coloring.
