Web Designer
A Program Overview of the Information Technology Career Cluster
You can become a web
designer in just one semester
through this Career &
Technical Education program!
Web Designer
In as few as 15 weeks, students can
learn to design professional websites for
personal or business use.
Students will begin by learning the basics
of website functionality and the common
terminology used by web designers and
developers. Then, they will explore web
design processes and best practices
before learning to use the tools needed
to transform design concepts into visual
prototypes. This foundational knowledge
will allow students to incorporate their
creativity to design visually appealing, fully
functional websites.
Courses in this program at Lone Star
College include hands-on training for
producing digital images, manipulating
illustrations and layouts; and addressing
foundational design theory topics such
as color, typography, composition, photo
editing, and logo design.
Upon completion of this program,
students will have compiled an e-portfolio
that demonstrates their web design
experience in addition to the knowledge
and skills needed to work independently or
as a member of a web design team.
