" Cooperative communication has gain much attention recently. In this
talk, we will first briefly introduce the work done by Prof. Ray Liu and
his colleagues.
In their work, a cooperative communication system with three nodes is
discussed. Start from their work, we will introduce what the cooperative
communication system is and what the rationale is behind it.
Then we will discuss the SNR behavior of cooperative communication
systems when adaptive modulation scheme is adopted under different
combing mechanism. From results we obtain, equal gain combining has
similar rate performance to that of maximal ratio combining when
adaptive modulation scheme is adopted. Also we compare the SNR
performance and rate performance between cooperative communication
systems and multiple-input and single-output systems. Though MISO
systems outperform cooperative communication systems, the cost of MISO
in terms of hardware implementation and power consumption of a single
device is much higher than cooperative communication systems. This again
justifies the use of cooperative communication systems."
