Theatre
VLADIMIR URIN
Honored Artist of Russia, General Director of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia
Biography
He began his theatrical activity in 1973, becoming director of the Youth Theatre in Kirov. In
1981 he moved to Moscow, where he headed the Office of children's and puppet theaters WTO
(now — the Russian Union of Theatre Actors).
In 1995 he became Director General of the Moscow Academic Music Theatre named after K.S.
Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko. Under his leadership, it developed and realized
the idea of a radical reconstruction of the theater building.
In 1997 he became Director General of the International Festival of Contemporary Dance,
conducted jointly by Music Theatre together with cultural centers and embassies of European
countries, Canada and the United States.
Vladimir Urin is Professor and the head of the Department of Management and producing
performing arts of Moscow Art Theater School.
He conceived and implemented the idea of establishing a national professional award in the field
of theater — "Golden Mask".
In July 2013 he was appointed General Director of the Bolshoi Theatre.

SERGEY STADLER
Violinist, conductor, People's Artist of Russia
Biography
Mr. Stadler is graduate of Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg. He completed
graduate studies at Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow.
In 2009-2011 he served as Rector of Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg.
Sergey Stadler is actively participating in top-ranking music festivals. He has won awards at
international music competitions, such as Concertino Praha, Long Thibaud Competition, Sibelius
Competition, Tchaikovsky Competition and others.
Mr. Stadler has performed with best orchestras of the world in more than 70 countries.
Currently he serves as artistic director of St. Petersburg Concert, and principal conductor of St.
Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

MIKHAIL PIOTROVSKY
General Director of the State Hermitage Museum
Biography
Grand Doctor of History, scholar of Eastern and Arab Studies and Islamic Studies, Dean of the
Faculty of Eastern Studies of St. Petersburg State University.
Has served as Director of the State Hermitage Museum since 1992. Dr. Piotrovsky is President
of the Russian Museum Union, member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and member of the
Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Mikhail Piotrovsky is member of the Council of Europe Consulting Group on Exhibition
Activities, member of the Russian Committee for UNESCO Affairs, member of the Presidential
Council for Culture and Arts, and of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
He has been awarded Orders of Merit, 4th and 3rd Class, the Presidential Prize in Literature and
Arts, and the St. Petersburg Tercentennial Medal.

Stage director, producer, actor
Biography
In 1991 graduate of Gerasimov All-Union State University of Cinematography.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kinotavr Open Russian Film Festival, member the Nika
Cinema Prize Academy, and member of Golden Eagle National Cinema Prize.
Mr. Bondarchuk has directed several major blockbuster films. He is a co-founder of Glavkino
Group of Companies and founder of Art Pictures Studio.
He has won Golden Eagle award for his acting in “Two Days” as Best Actor in the Leading
Role.
Since 2012 he has served as Chairman of the Board of Lenfilm, the oldest Russian film studio.

VYACHESLAV POLUNIN
Russian performance artist and clown, People's Artist of Russia
Biography
Actor mime, director and clown, a graduate and professor of the Leningrad Institute of Culture.
Is one of the founders of the theater "Actors", during the existence of which there were some of
the best performances of modern Russian clown: "From the Life of Insects", "Asisyai revue"
miniature musical "Blue Blue Blue Canary".
Vyacheslav Polunin - winner of many tall theater awards: "Golden Angel", "Golden Nose"
award Laurence Olivier, the National Independent Award "Triumph". During the show "Living
Rainbow" Vyacheslav Polunin personally Queen of Great Britain was awarded the title of
"honorary citizen of London."

IVAN LOBANOV
Rector of the Moscow State Institute of Culture
Biography
From 1996 to 1999 he worked in the Office of the Government of Saratov region. 1999 - 2000 post-graduate student of the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of
Russian Federation (Moscow).
From 2000 to 2003 he worked in the Office of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the
Russian Federation.
In 2004 he worked in management positions of Saratov region’s industrial enterprises. From
2005 to 2006he worked in senior positions ofRussian socio-political organizations.
In 2007 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly (fifth
convocation), deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Civil, Criminal, Arbitration and
Procedural Legislation.
From 2010 to 2011 – Stats-Secretary - Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian
Federation. Since 2011 - Director of the Department of Civil Service and Personnel of the
Government of Russian Federation (Moscow). From 2012 to 2015 - Deputy head of the Russian
Federation Government office.
May 20, 2015 Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky appointed as rector of duties. October 1,
2015 the majority of votes was elected as rector of the Moscow State Institute of Culture.

SEMEN MIKHAILOVSKY
Rector of St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture named
after I. E. Repin
Biography
Dr. Mikhailovsky has been on faculty of Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Art,
Sculpture and Architecture since 1991. He has served as Rector of the Institute since 2010.
Dr. Mikhailovsky is Honorary Professor of the Moscow Institute of Architecture and Shenzhen
University.
He served as Commissioner of Russia’s pavilion at the Architectural Biennial in Venice in 2014.
He will represent Russia at this event in 2016 and 2018.
Dr. Mikhailovsky is Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, member of the
Presidential Council for Culture and Arts and the Governor Council for Culture in St. Petersbrug,
member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts.

OLEG RYZHKOV

Biography
Graduate of Moscow Institute of Physics and Engineering and Lomonosov Moscow State
University.
He was employed as leading engineer of the Research Institute of Physics and Technology of the
Academy of Technological Sciences of the Russian Federation. At different times he served as
top official at the Moscow Government Committee for Land Use, Moscow department of Land
Resources, Moscow City Committees for Construction and Property Management.
Since November 2013 Mr. Ryzhkov has headed the Federal State Budgetary Establishment of
Culture Agency for Management and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Ministry
of Culture of the Russian Federation.

LYUDMILA VERBITSKAYA
President of Russian Academy of Education, doctor of philological sciences, professor at St.
Petersburg State University
Biography
Graduate of Leningrad State University, served several terms as Rector of St. Petersburg State
University. At present she is President Emerita of St. Petersburg State University.
Lyudmila Verbitskaya has authored more than 300 papers in Russian and general linguistics. She
holds honorary doctorates of the University of Bologna, the University of New York and many
other Russian institutions of higher education.
She is President of the International Association of Teachers of Russian and Literature, and since
2013 she has served as President-elect of the Russian Academy of Education. Lyudmila
Verbitskaya is member of the Russian Language Council under the auspices of the Government
of the Russian Federation.
She has been awarded Orders of Merit of 2nd, 3rd and 4th class, the Order of Honor, the Order
of Friendship, the French Order of the Honor Legion, and others.

Biography
1990-1991 — President of the Association of Young Journalists “OKO” MGIMO.
In 1993 he founded the agency for the development of public relations, “Mikhailov and
Partners”.
In 2004 he was appointed as advisor of the President - a member of the Board of JSCo “Russian
Railways”. In 2006 - 2012 years he was head of the Corporate Communications Department.
Sergey Mikhaylov reformed the system of internal and external communications of the Russian
Railways, made the rebranding of the company.
September 17, 2012 was appointed General Director of Federal State Unitary Enterprise
“Information Telegraph Agency of Russia (ITAR-TASS)” (in 2014 renamed “The Russian
Information Agency “TASS”).

NIKOLAY KROPACHEV
Rector of St. Petersburg State University
Biography
Professor, Grand Doctor of Law Dr. Kropachev had served for more than a decade as Dean of
the School of Law of St. Petersburg State University, and since 2008 he has been serving as
Rector of St. Petersburg State University.
He is a member of the Board of the Russian Union of Rectors and the Board of the Russian
Association of Lawyers. Dr. Kropachev is also co-founder and member of the Russian History
Society and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
He is a two-time recipient of the A. F. Koni medal. Dr. Kropachev is a winner of the
Government Prize in Education, Russian President’s Prize in Education, Lawyer of the Year
Prize and Speransky All-Russian Legal Prize. He has been awarded Orders of Merit IV and III
class, and numerous other Russian and international awards.

Biography
In 2001 he graduated the Moscow Institute of Architecture.
Since 2003 — Partner and Director General of the architectural studio "S.P.Project".
From 2006 to 2012 — Managing partner of the architectural association «SPEECH Choban &
Kuznetsov" in Moscow.
In 2010 - The participants of the project "Factory Russia" for the exposition of the Russian
pavilion at the XII Biennale of Architecture in Venice.
In 2012 — Co-curator of the exhibition “i-city / i-land” Skolkovo project” in Russian pavilion at
the XIII Venice Architecture Bienniale. The exposition won a special prize (special mention) of
Bienniale’s jury.
In 2012 — he was appointed the principal architect of Moscow — the first deputy chairman of
the Moscow Committee of Architecture.
In 2013 — appointed Chairman of the Board of Architecture in Moscow.
Since 2014 — Honorary Professor of the Moscow Architectural Institute.
Ballet and Dance
NIKOLAY TSISKARIDZE
Principal of the Vaganova Ballet Academy
Biography
Nikolai Tsiskaridze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1973. Не started dancing at the age of 11,
training at the Tbilisi State Choreographic School. In 1987 he was admitted to the Bolshoi Ballet
Academy in Moscow (class of Professor Piotr Pestov).
Invited by Yuri Grigorovich, Nikolai joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1992, where he studied with
Galina Ulanova, Marina Semyonova and Nikolai Fadeyechev.After a brief period in the corps de
ballet, he became a Principal in 1995. Over the course of his dance career Nikolai Tsiskaridze
has performed over 70 roles in major classical works as well as in ballets by Yury Grigorovich,
Leonid Lavrovsky, Mikhail Fokine, Kasian Goleyzovsky, Roland Petit, John Neumeier, Pierre
Lacotte, Rudolf Nureyev, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Kenneth MacMillan, Boris
Eifman, Fleming Flindt, Christopher Wheeldon, Nacho Duato.
In 2001 Nikolai Tsiskaridze was selected by Roland Petit to create the demanding title role of
Hermann in The Queen of Spades exclusively choreographed for the Bolshoi Theatre.
Since 1997 Nikolai Tsiskaridze has regularly performed with the Mariinsky Ballet and in
December 2001 made his debut at the Paris Opera as Solor in La Bayadère (by Rudolf Nureyev),
having repeated his appearance with the Paris Opera Ballet as Drosselmeyer/Prince in The
Nutcracker (by Rudolf Nureyev) in 2009. He also participated in most of the foreign tours of the
Bolshoi Ballet, “Kings of the Dance” international project, Les Saisons Russes du XXI Siecle as
well as in various international ballet galas.
In 1996 Nikolai Tsiskaridze graduated from the Teacher Training Department of the Moscow
Ballet Academy and since 2003 had been teaching a daily ballet class at the Bolshoi Theatre
combining his dance career with coaching. Besides, since 2004 he had been also teaching at the
Moscow Ballet Academy.
Since July 2011, Nikolai Tsiskaridze is a member of the President's Council for Culture and Arts.
On June 30, 2013 he left the Bolshoi Theatre and on October 28, 2013 was appointed acting
principal of the Vaganova Ballet Academy.
On November 29, 2014 he was formally confirmed as a Principal of the Academy in unopposed
election, winning 227 of the 244 possible votes.
BORIS EIFMAN
Art director of Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg, People's Artist of Russia
Biography
Mr. Eifman is a graduate of the Department of Ballet Direction of Rimsky-Korsakov State
Conservatory in St. Petersburg. He staged his first performances in the early 1970s at Maly
Opera and Ballet Theater in Leningrad. In 1971-1977 he served as choreographer at Vaganova
School of Choreography in Leningrad.
In 1977 he founded New Ballet, a theater under the auspices of Leningrad Concert Organization,
which was later renamed Boris Eifman St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater.
Mr. Eifman has won Russian State Prize for his ballet shows: 'Tchaikovsky', 'Don Quixote, or
Crazy Man’s Fantasy', 'Karamazovs', 'Red Giselle', 'My Jerusalem'.
He has won several Golden Soffits, top award in theater life of St. Petersburg, and Golden Masks
of the National Theater Prize. Mr. Eifman is cavalier of the Orders of Merit 4th, 3rd and 2nd
class.

MAYA LOMIDZE
Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), Head of the
Committee for Import Substitution in Tourism of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian
Federation.
Biography
Maya Lomidze graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of the Tbilisi State University (TSU),
management courses of LMI, a US company. She started her career as a journalist of the Izvestia
newspaper, had been working in the Turinfo tourism newspaper since 1994. From 1998 to 2002
— Editor in Chief of the Turinfo newspaper. 2003-2004 — Commissioning Editor of the
Nachalnik magazine, 2004-2006 — Commissioning Editor of the Yakhty magazine, 2006-2008
— Director of the Turinfo newspaper. From 2008 to the present day – Executive Director of
ATOR.
