New Egress Post Top Adapter Provides Integrated
Egress Lighting Solution for Existing Pole Applications
—Product Stays True to AAL’s Reputation of Providing Functional, Aesthetic Lighting Solutions—
LA MIRADA, CALIF. (July XX, 2007) — Architectural Area Lighting (AAL) introduces the Egress
Post Top Adapter (Egress PTA), the first accessory ever produced that can be integrated into an
existing non-egress-fitted pole application to provide code-required egress illumination.
The low-voltage reflector-lamp-equipped Egress PTA provides a simple solution for a low power
option to provide a tool to help an installation meet the code-driven requirement of providing a onefoot candle minimum illumination along the path of egress to the common way. The installation
produces minimal visual change to the pole, thus allowing it to keep its design integrity and
architectural relevance.
The Egress PTA is available in two styles — traditional and contemporary — and 13 standard
colors. The traditional style is 12 inches-tall, while the contemporary Egress PTA stands 14.5
inches. After being fitted to the pole, each style adapter only adds 3.63 inches to the pole’s height.
The product seamlessly slips over four-inch poles and features 360-degree rotation for easy field
adjustments. The Egress PTA also includes an adjustable bracket that can be positioned between
15-45 degrees, so concise, direct illumination can be provided on the path of egress.

The Egress PTA features a low voltage halogen lamp with a standard source 12V 50W MR16. The
product is wired to an auxiliary power source that activates the lower-wattage MR16 in the event of
an emergency or power interruption. The Egress PTA is the first remote emergency head
designed for a pole-top outdoor application.
