Temporal Power's Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) provides is a potential solution to the IESO for providing "System Flexibility" for Grid Balancing and Renewable Integration. Temporal Power flywheels respond to full power in 100 milliseconds to match destabilizing changes on the grid, resulting in energy accurately delivered on time for optimal grid balancing. The flexibility of the Temporal Power flywheels can help to reduce the variability of Power and Energy needs on the grid and help provide certainty for the IESO in milliseconds. The range of our flywheels is unaffected by the number of cycles and by the depth of discharge over their 20 year life cycle. Our flywheel technology is providing real-time Grid Balancing services that include: Frequency control and regulation reserve: Whether providing direct frequency control or contributing to area balancing, the speed and ramping capabilities of our flywheels results in more energy being delivered exactly when it is needed. Resulting in a higher and more effective regulation capacity than traditional generation sources, decreasing the cost to provide these ancillary services Voltage and power quality support: Fast response and the ability to provide both real and reactive power are critical to balance local power fluctuations caused by industrial loads or renewable energy sources, helping to improve power quality and stabilize voltage levels at the local distribution level. In addition, our flywheel technology can support Renewable Integration to the grid by aiding in the consistency for Variable Generation. Temporal Power flywheels balance out the short term intermittencies caused by VG such as wind and solar power, which can cause both local and grid-wide power quality challenges. Our technology is capable of responding quickly to short-duration power fluctuations from renewable generation. Temporal Power's Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS) acts like a shock absorber, smoothing power flows to reduce strain on the electricity system.
