Wegener teory - Plate tectonic - Birth and dead of the ocean, subdution processes, effects of the collisional events. Crustal deformations, faults, anticline and sincline folds, trusts. Earthquake and volcanoes. Erosion, transport, deposition and diagenesis processes. Main sedimentary structures. Morphological and sedimentological features of the main sedimentary environments. Magmatic, piroclastic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Methods for a macroscopic definition. Stratigraphy concepts. Main stratigraphic units. Facies, Walther law, transgressiveregressive cycle. Hint of sequence stratigraphy Features of the Italian regional geology. Geological cartography of Italy To develop skills and learning outcomes Understanding the importance of time in geological phenomena. Knowledge of the structure of the planet. Knowledge of dynamic phenomena that determine the evolution of the Earth and their degree of hazard to human activities. Acquisition of basic concepts of stratigraphy. Knowledge and macroscopic recognition of rocks. Acquisition of basic methods for the analysis of sediments. Capacity utilization of geological maps. Final evaluation The evaluation of the profit will be done through a written examination with open questions that require synthetic answers and an oral / practical test to verify the knowledge acquired during the course.
