Attributes
Recommended name: Trypsin-2
EC:
3.4.21.4
Alternative names:
Anionic trypsinogen, Serine protease 2,
Trypsin II
Organism:
Homo sapiens (Human)
Sequence status:
Complete
Structure Weight:
23364.48
Some Facts
• Trypsin is produced in the pancreas as the
inactive proenzyme trypsinogen.
• Trypsin uses a special serine amino acid in its proteincutting reaction, and is consequently known as a serine
protease.
• Each has a particular taste for protein chains: trypsin
cuts next to lysine and arginine.
• Trypsins have an optimal operating pH of about 8 and
optimal operating temperature of about 37°C.
