STRUCTURE

The Czech Republic consists of 14
regions
Central Bohemian Region
• can be found in the middle of the Czech
Republic
• it´s an area surrounding Prague
• in the picture is famous Karlstejn castle built
by Karel IV.
- the Czech Crown Jewels used to be kept
there
Ústí nad Labem Region
• Ústí nad Labem is the main city of this
region
• this region lies in the northwestern part of
the Czech Republic
• in this picture:
Liberec Region
• lies in the north of the CR
• Ještěd - it‘s TV tower, view point and hotel
where the tourist can take advantages of
several ski slopes surrounding the hotel
Hradec Králové Region
• is located in the north of the Czech Republic
• the main city of the region is Hradec Králové
• the most visited place by tourist is Giant
National Park
- there is the biggest mountain of the Czech
Republic called Sněžka (1602 m)
Pardubice Region
• is located in the eastern part of the Czech
Republic
• the main city of the district Pardubice is
famous for gingerbread production
• it lies on the Labe river
Olomouc Region
• is situated in the central part of Moravia
• the main city of the area Olomouc is
UNESCO heritage site
Moravian – Silesian Region
• Moraviansilesian is the easternmost part of
the Czech Republic
• the main city of the region is Ostrava
• famous person of Zikmund Freud was born
in this region, in Příbor
Zlín Region
• lies on the border with the Slovak Republic
• famous Czech entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa
was born there
• fascinating town of Kroměříž is also one of
the Czech UNESCO heritage sites
• if you need some rest and relax, you will find
it in the well-known spa in Luhačovice
South Moravian Region
• South Moravien region is not only beautiful
landscape, but there are also a lot of
historical monuments and sights
• the main city of this district is Brno
- there are two UNESCO heritage sites (Vila
Thugendhat and resort of two castles
Lednice and Valtice
Vysočina Region
• the main city of the region Vysočina is
Jihlava
• there are three UNESCO heritage sites Třebíč, Telč and Zelená hora
South Bohemian Region
• The main city of the region is called České
Budějovice
• the Lipno reservoir can be found in this
district and it is the biggest water tank in the
Czech Republic
• Český Krumlov and Holašovice are
UNESCO heritage sites
• while visiting this part of the CR you
shouldn´t miss the beautiful castle Hluboká
nad Vltavou
Plzeň Region
• its main city - Plzeň
• the famous brewery has been operating
there since 1839
Karlovy Vary Region
• Karlovy Vary region lies in the very west of
the Czech Republic
• it’s a famous spa region and a lot of cultural
events take place there every year
- for example well-known Karlovy Vary
International Film Festival
