ContiEarth Range: Continental Showcases EM-Master
and RDT-Master at CONEXPO-CON/AGG Show
 The ContiEarth portfolio contains two tire lines – EM-Master & RDT-Master – specifically
designed for various vehicles and purposes in the earthmoving industry
 E3/L3 tire version shown to the public for the first time in Las Vegas
 iTire: integrated sensor automatically monitors inflation pressure and tire temperature
LAS VEGAS, March 7, 2017. With the EM-Master and RDT-Master Continental Commercial
Specialty Tires (CST) show its ContiEarth portfolio at the 2017 CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show.
The new Off-The-Road (OTR) tires are the latest addition to Continental’s portfolio of specialty tires
and are specifically designed for the extreme demands of the construction and earthmover
segment. Their newly developed tread pattern designs make each solution a perfect fit for different
applications.
“The EM-Master E3/L3 and E4/L4 and the RDT-Master E4 are examples of our successful designs
for customized solutions,” said T. Shawn Rasey, responsible for business development of
Earthmover Tires at Continental Commercial Specialty Tires (CST). “Furthermore, they fit perfectly
our expansion strategy for the future, and we will continue to expand and optimize our product and
service portfolio in this industry in the coming years.” Continental underlines its strategy to be a
solutions provider by demonstrating the ContiPressureCheck system as well as the upcoming
technology around ContiFlexBox, which enhances efficiency in customer operations.
As a leading technology company, Continental combines its strength in the automotive and rubber
sector and presents its iTire as essential part of the ContiEarth range. The iTire means that each
tire of the ContiEarth range already comes with an integrated sensor. The sensor is able to
constantly monitor inflation pressure as well as tire temperature and can transmit the information in
real time to the ContiPressureCheck system. With the help of additional components, the data can
be visualized either via handheld tool or display in the driver cabin.

“With the iTire, we prepare the path to the next service level. We want to enhance the efficiency
and safety of vehicle fleets with a comprehensive tire management system,” said Rasey. In future,
the ContiFlexBox will be a major part, enabling the collection and provision of tire-related data from
the sensor and transmitting it to a central server via Wi-Fi or GSM. This will enable the fleet
operator to constantly monitor vehicle data on a dashboard and will even send alerts for quick
maintenance reactions.
EM-Master: Performance, safety and durability in harsh conditions
The EM-Master is available in two versions that are each perfectly tailored for the specific
demands in OTR applications. First-time shown to the public in Las Vegas, the EM-Master E3/L3
offers excellent self-cleaning characteristics, powerful traction, and good maneuverability which
facilitate the use in muddy and soft terrain. The open tread design, a normal tread depth (100
percent) and a wider spacing between the blocks of the E3/L3 tire version further offers better
cooling and therefore less heat buildup for a long service life.
The EM-Master E4/L4 in contrast is an excellent option for use in gravelly and rocky grounds. It
features a greater block size with less spacing between the blocks and a deeper tread depth.
Therefore, the tire solution offers a higher carcass protection and superior cutting resistance,
minimizing the risk of punctures and downtimes. The less tread block spacing also results in a
smoother running even on hard surfaces. Due to a high tread wear volume, the EM-Master E4/L4
offers an even longer service life compared to the E3/L3.
Both EM-Master E3/L3 and E4/L4 will be available in the sizes 23.5R25, 26.5R25, and 29.5R25;
the EM-Master E3/L3 additionally also in the size 20.5R25. The tires are therefore perfectly
applicable on articulated dump trucks (ADTs), loaders, and dozers.

RDT-Master: Maximum traction even with heavy loads
The RDT-Master is designed for the transport of extra-heavy loads. The special tread design with a
deep tread depth and a wide and flat tread radius offers a high loading capacity and cutting
resistance. The angled edges and the open shoulder design allow for higher lateral stability which
results in better driving behavior and maximum traction even on curvy terrain. In addition, the
special tread design results in excellent cleaning characteristics on muddy ground. The RDTMaster will be available in the sizes 18.00R33, 21.00R33 and 24.00R35 and is suitable for heavyduty construction vehicles such as rigid dump trucks.
ContiPressureCheck enhances fleet efficiency
To increase the safety and efficiency of vehicle fleets in heavy-duty applications such as
construction, quarrying, and mining, the proven ContiPressureCheck monitoring system can be
easily mounted on both EM-Master E3/L3 and E4/L4 and RDT-Master. Due to automatic
monitoring of the tire pressure, the risks of puncture accidents are reduced which offers more
safety for both driver and vehicle. Correct tire pressure further leads to lower energy consumption
of the vehicles and to increased mileage capability. Fleet operators can significantly reduce their
operating costs and increase the efficiency of their fleets by using ContiPressureCheck. At the
same time, the environmental impact is downsized, since CO2 emissions are reduced and the life
of the tire is extended.
