No it was not the main reason the civilization declined but definitely contributed as loss of
control took place, however it inspired artists in different realms.

Climate change(drought) occurred around 2200.B.C. This created political instability, decline in
food resource and infrastructural resource which lead to the collapse of the civilization.

pyramid of Sesostris II.

Likely a main reason, decline in Agriculture and resources creates a major problem for a
civilization as everyone relied on food.

Evidence includes; weak leadership, assaults from places outside Egypt, “Sea People”
(Invaders) took control of the eastern Mediterranean and kicked the Egyptians living there out.

Egypt fell behind in their military aspects because they simply did not have iron. They
were also many other factors, such as short lived succession by the rebel king Amenmesse in
the south, the murder of Ramesses III in 1153 BC, and civil war in the years of 1080-1070 BC.
Raids of bandits, tomb robbing also caused economic peril.
