That’s right! Our
scientists have finally
found a way to travel to
the largest planet in our
solar system. We want to
lifetime opportunity
with you! Please take a
few minutes out of your
day to read up on this
amazing planet!
Jupiter is the largest planet in our
Solar System. It has a diameter of
142, 984 km!
It is 778 330 000 km’s (or 5.20 AU’s)
away from the Sun.
It is also one of the four gas giants.
While the planet is beautiful, it can be
very cold. Jupiter has a surface
temperature of -108 °C!
It takes 10 hours for Jupiter to rotate
once.
It takes 4 332.82 (equal to about 12
Earth years) Earth days for Jupiter to
complete its orbit around the Sun.
Its gravity is 23.1 m/s².
Jupiter has many moons. The four
largest are Callisto, Io, Europa and
Ganymede. They are known as the
Galilean Satellites, because they were
the only four moons Galileo was able to
see. Jupiter has 57 other moons
There will be a little
turbulence when we
arrive on the planet.
There is a certain
section of the planet
covered by the Great
Red Storm. It has
been raging on for
hundreds of years.
Don’t worry though,
we won’t land
anywhere near this
storm.
Jupiter was first visited by the
Pioneer 10 in
1973. It has also been visited by the
Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2 and
Ulysses and it will be visited by the
Juno Mission in 2016. It was also
orbited by the spacecraft Galileo for 8
years! It is still regularly observed by
the Hubble Space Telescope.

Gods (Know as Zeus in
Greek Mythology)

brightest thing in our
Solar System

all the planets in our
Solar System combined
 Jupiter will never
become a star
