Tony is Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Bristol and
Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal United Hospitals in Bath.
He is currently training programme director for the DDS/M.Orth
programme at the University of Bristol, is Director of the BOSF
and was previously Chairman of the Consultant Orthodontists
Group of BOS and the Developments and Standards Committee.
Kathy Harley
Kathy graduated from Guy’s in 1981 and completed a
Masters degree in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman
Dental Institute in 1986. She was appointed Consultant
and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at
the Eastman in 1991. Her main area of clinical interest is
in the restorative treatment of dental anomalies. One of
Professor Sir Michael Marmot
Sir Michael Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology at University
College London, and President of the World Medical Association.
He is the author of The Health Gap: the challenge of an
unequal world (Bloomsbury: 2015) and Status Syndrome: how
your place on the social gradient directly affects your health
(Bloomsbury: 2004). Professor Marmot holds the Harvard Lown
Professorship for 2014-2017 and is the recipient of the Prince Mahidol Award for Public
Health 2015. He has been awarded honorary doctorates from 17 universities. Marmot
has led research groups on health inequalities for 40 years. He chairs the Commission
on Equity and Health Inequalities in the Americas, set up in 2015 by the World Health
Organizations’ Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO/ WHO). He was Chair of the
Commission on Social Determinants of Health (CSDH), which was set up by the World
Health Organization in 2005, and produced the report entitled: ‘Closing the Gap in a
Nicky Mandall
Nicky Mandall is Consultant Orthodontist and Clinical Lead of the
Orthodontic Department at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation
Trust. Her research interests include making a contribution to
orthodontic clinical research through randomized controlled
trials. She has been invited to speak about her scientific research
at national and European conferences. Nicky is external
examiner for the Manchester Orthodontic Therapist programme and is also an MOrth
examiner. She was the MSc supervisor for the winner of the Houston Research Award in
2010, was awarded best scientific paper in the Journal of Orthodontics in 2011 and 2012
and was presented with the FEO award for the best scientific paper in Europe in 2011 and
2012.
Roy Lilley
Roy Lilley is a businessman with over 40 years’ experience.
He started his first enterprise from scratch, built it to a multimillion pound turnover and sold it to management and partners
in 1989. He is now an established independent health policy
analyst and writer. He has contributed to the Today Programme,
Newsnight, the Midnight Hour, BBC News 24, BBC 5 Live,
Channel 5 News, Sky, ITN and regional TV and radio programmes.
He has written for the Guardian, Sunday Times, Telegraph and many national newspapers,
journals and management periodicals including a regular column in Pharmaceutical
Marketing magazine. Roy’s position as a former chair of the NHS Trust and a commentator
and analyst of healthcare policy has contributed to his unparalleled reach over social

Simon Littlewood
Simon Littlewood has been a Consultant Orthodontist
at St Luke’s Hospital, Bradford, UK since 2001 and
is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Leeds Dental
Institute. He co-founded the UK’s first orthodontic
therapy course with Trevor Hodge in 2007 and is still
one of the Course Directors of the Yorkshire Orthodontic
Therapy Course. He is on the Board of the Faculty of Dental Surgery for the Royal
College of Surgeons of England, and was previously Director of Professional
Development for the British Orthodontic Society from 2012-2015. Away from
orthodontics he is a keen, but very limited skier, and a runner who tries hard, but
achieves little.”
Janet Clarke
Janet Clarke qualified in the 1980s from Birmingham University
and went on to work in general practice, but primarily the
community dental service in and around Birmingham. She has
significant involvement with the British Dental Association,
firstly as Chair of the Central Committee for Community and
Public Health Dentistry and then as BDA President in 2011.
She was a member of the Steele Review team in 2008 and led the production of the
Commissioning Guide for Special Care Dentistry that was published in 2015. She is
currently Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England, chairs the Local Professional Network for
dentistry in the West Midlands and was awarded an MBE for services to dentistry in 2010.

Tim Newton is Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry
and Honorary Consultant Health Psychologist at King’s College
London Dental Institute. Tim has worked in the behavioural
sciences in relation to dentistry for over 20 years, and his
particular interests include the management of dental anxiety,
interventions to enhance oral health related behaviour and
the working life of the dental team. He has published over 250 peer reviewed articles in
scientific journals. In 2015 he was lucky enough to be awarded the IADR Behavioural,
Epidemiological & Health Services Research Distinguished Scientist Award.

Trevor Hodge
Trevor qualified as a dentist in 1995 from Bristol University
and as a specialist orthodontist from Birmingham Dental
Hospital in 2002. Since completing his consultant training
at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London in 2005 he has
worked as a hospital consultant at Leeds Dental Institute
and following this has spent part of his week in specialist
practice. He has been a co-course director of the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy Course
since its inception in 2007.
Padhraig Fleming
Padhraig Fleming is Reader and Clinical Lead in Orthodontics
at the Institute of Dentistry, QMUL. Padhraig studied Dentistry
at Trinity College Dublin graduating with a Gold Medal and
First Class Honours. He undertook postgraduate and Consultant
training in Orthodontics at the Royal London. He was awarded
his MSc. with Distinction in 2007, the Membership in
Orthodontics and British Orthodontic Society Medal in 2008, FDS (Orth.) from the Royal
College of Surgeons in 2010 and his PhD in 2013. He is an Associate Editor of American
Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dentistry. He has
published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and has received research awards from the
British Orthodontic Society and the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Award from the American
Association of Orthodontists in 2011. He has recently co-authored two orthodontic
textbooks- ‘Clinical Cases in Orthodontics’ and ‘Functional Appliances: Theory and Practice’
Generation’ in August 2008. At the request of the British Government, he conducted the
Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England post 2010, which published its report
‘Fair Society, Healthy Lives’ in February 2010. This was followed by the European Review
of Social Determinants of Health and the Health Divide, for WHO Euro in 2014. He chaired
the Breast Screening Review for the NHS National Cancer Action Team and was a member
of The Lancet-University of Oslo Commission on Global Governance for Health. He set up
and led a number of longitudinal cohort studies on the social gradient in health in the UCL
Department of Epidemiology & Public Health (where he was head of department for 25
years): the Whitehall II Studies of British Civil Servants, investigating explanations for the
striking inverse social gradient in morbidity and mortality; the English Longitudinal Study
of Ageing (ELSA), and several international research efforts on the social determinants
of health. He served as President of the British Medical Association (BMA) in 20102011, and is President of the British Lung Foundation. He is an Honorary Fellow of the
American College of Epidemiology; a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences; an
Honorary Fellow of the British Academy, and an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public
Health of the Royal College of Physicians. He was a member of the Royal Commission
on Environmental Pollution for six years and in 2000 he was knighted by Her Majesty
The Queen, for services to epidemiology and the understanding of health inequalities.

Toby Gillgrass
Toby is a Consultant Orthodontist working in Glasgow Dental
Hospital. He is currently the Chairman for the Specialist Advisory
Board for Orthodontics for the RCS Edinburgh and Clinical Lead
for Cleft Care Scotland.
His main research interests include biomaterials of relevance to orthodontics and also
clinical trials. He is principal UK expert on two ISO materials working groups, has over
120 publications in peer reviewed journals, has contributed to 4 book chapters and has
published two textbooks on orthodontics.

the only Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry to have undergone a formal training in adult
conservation, allowing her to adapt techniques used in the treatment of older patients
to the developing dentition. In 1999 Kathy took the position of Consultant in Paediatric
Dentistry at the Edinburgh Dental Institute where she was also Head of Department
until 2011 when she became Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College
of Surgeons of England. Kathy is also actively involved in dento-legal work, working
regularly with Medical Protection. In 2010, she completed ten years as a member of the
Board of Dental Protection, having been Chairman from 2006.

Sue Cunningham
Susan Cunningham graduated from Leeds University
in 1988. Her orthodontic training was undertaken at
the Eastman Dental Institute, gaining an MSc in 1994,
Membership in Orthodontics in 1995 and PhD in
2000. She is now Professor of Orthodontics/Honorary
Consultant at UCL Eastman Dental Institute and is
Programme Director of the postgraduate orthodontic programme, one of the
largest postgraduate programmes in Europe. She is involved in all aspects of
postgraduate orthodontic education in the UK and Europe; she is on the British
Orthodontic Society Board of Trustees and is also Honorary Secretary of the
European Orthodontic Society. Her main research interests are in the psychology
of dentofacial deformity and the outcomes of orthodontic and orthognathic
treatment. She has published around 90 original research papers and contributed
to a number of specialist textbooks.

Susan Cunningham graduated from Leeds University
in 1988. Her orthodontic training was undertaken at
the Eastman Dental Institute, gaining an MSc in 1994,
Membership in Orthodontics in 1995 and PhD in
2000. She is now Professor of Orthodontics/Honorary
Consultant at UCL Eastman Dental Institute and is
Programme Director of the postgraduate orthodontic programme, one of the
largest postgraduate programmes in Europe. She is involved in all aspects of
postgraduate orthodontic education in the UK and Europe; she is on the British
Orthodontic Society Board of Trustees and is also Honorary Secretary of the
European Orthodontic Society. Her main research interests are in the psychology
of dentofacial deformity and the outcomes of orthodontic and orthognathic
treatment. She has published around 90 original research papers and contributed
to a number of specialist textbooks.

Tony is Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Bristol and
Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal United Hospitals in Bath.
He is currently training programme director for the DDS/M.Orth
programme at the University of Bristol, is Director of the BOSF
and was previously Chairman of the Consultant Orthodontists
Group of BOS and the Developments and Standards Committee.
Kathy Harley
Kathy graduated from Guy’s in 1981 and completed a
Masters degree in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman
Dental Institute in 1986. She was appointed Consultant
and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at
the Eastman in 1991. Her main area of clinical interest is
in the restorative treatment of dental anomalies. One of

Sir Michael Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology at University
College London, and President of the World Medical Association.
He is the author of The Health Gap: the challenge of an
unequal world (Bloomsbury: 2015) and Status Syndrome: how
your place on the social gradient directly affects your health
(Bloomsbury: 2004). Professor Marmot holds the Harvard Lown
Professorship for 2014-2017 and is the recipient of the Prince Mahidol Award for Public
Health 2015. He has been awarded honorary doctorates from 17 universities. Marmot
has led research groups on health inequalities for 40 years. He chairs the Commission
on Equity and Health Inequalities in the Americas, set up in 2015 by the World Health
Organizations’ Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO/ WHO). He was Chair of the
Commission on Social Determinants of Health (CSDH), which was set up by the World
Health Organization in 2005, and produced the report entitled: ‘Closing the Gap in a
Nicky Mandall
Nicky Mandall is Consultant Orthodontist and Clinical Lead of the
Orthodontic Department at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation
Trust. Her research interests include making a contribution to
orthodontic clinical research through randomized controlled
trials. She has been invited to speak about her scientific research
at national and European conferences. Nicky is external
examiner for the Manchester Orthodontic Therapist programme and is also an MOrth
examiner. She was the MSc supervisor for the winner of the Houston Research Award in
2010, was awarded best scientific paper in the Journal of Orthodontics in 2011 and 2012
and was presented with the FEO award for the best scientific paper in Europe in 2011 and
2012.
Roy Lilley
Roy Lilley is a businessman with over 40 years’ experience.
He started his first enterprise from scratch, built it to a multimillion pound turnover and sold it to management and partners
in 1989. He is now an established independent health policy
analyst and writer. He has contributed to the Today Programme,
Newsnight, the Midnight Hour, BBC News 24, BBC 5 Live,
Channel 5 News, Sky, ITN and regional TV and radio programmes.

Janet Clarke
Janet Clarke qualified in the 1980s from Birmingham University
and went on to work in general practice, but primarily the
community dental service in and around Birmingham. She has
significant involvement with the British Dental Association,
firstly as Chair of the Central Committee for Community and
Public Health Dentistry and then as BDA President in 2011.
She was a member of the Steele Review team in 2008 and led the production of the
Commissioning Guide for Special Care Dentistry that was published in 2015. She is
currently Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England, chairs the Local Professional Network for
dentistry in the West Midlands and was awarded an MBE for services to dentistry in 2010.

Tim Newton is Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry
and Honorary Consultant Health Psychologist at King’s College
London Dental Institute. Tim has worked in the behavioural
sciences in relation to dentistry for over 20 years, and his

interventions to enhance oral health related behaviour and
the working life of the dental team. He has published over 250 peer reviewed articles in
scientific journals. In 2015 he was lucky enough to be awarded the IADR Behavioural,
Epidemiological & Health Services Research Distinguished Scientist Award.

Trevor qualified as a dentist in 1995 from Bristol University

and following this has spent part of his week in specialist

Padhraig Fleming
Padhraig Fleming is Reader and Clinical Lead in Orthodontics
at the Institute of Dentistry, QMUL. Padhraig studied Dentistry
at Trinity College Dublin graduating with a Gold Medal and
First Class Honours. He undertook postgraduate and Consultant
training in Orthodontics at the Royal London. He was awarded
his MSc. with Distinction in 2007, the Membership in
Orthodontics and British Orthodontic Society Medal in 2008, FDS (Orth.) from the Royal
College of Surgeons in 2010 and his PhD in 2013. He is an Associate Editor of American
Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dentistry. He has
published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and has received research awards from the
British Orthodontic Society and the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Award from the American
Association of Orthodontists in 2011. He has recently co-authored two orthodontic
textbooks- ‘Clinical Cases in Orthodontics’ and ‘Functional Appliances: Theory and Practice’
Generation’ in August 2008. At the request of the British Government, he conducted the
Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England post 2010, which published its report
‘Fair Society, Healthy Lives’ in February 2010. This was followed by the European Review
of Social Determinants of Health and the Health Divide, for WHO Euro in 2014. He chaired
the Breast Screening Review for the NHS National Cancer Action Team and was a member
of The Lancet-University of Oslo Commission on Global Governance for Health. He set up
and led a number of longitudinal cohort studies on the social gradient in health in the UCL
Department of Epidemiology & Public Health (where he was head of department for 25
years): the Whitehall II Studies of British Civil Servants, investigating explanations for the
striking inverse social gradient in morbidity and mortality; the English Longitudinal Study
of Ageing (ELSA), and several international research efforts on the social determinants
of health. He served as President of the British Medical Association (BMA) in 20102011, and is President of the British Lung Foundation. He is an Honorary Fellow of the

Toby Gillgrass
Toby is a Consultant Orthodontist working in Glasgow Dental
Hospital. He is currently the Chairman for the Specialist Advisory
Board for Orthodontics for the RCS Edinburgh and Clinical Lead
for Cleft Care Scotland.
His main research interests include biomaterials of relevance to orthodontics and also
clinical trials. He is principal UK expert on two ISO materials working groups, has over
120 publications in peer reviewed journals, has contributed to 4 book chapters and has
published two textbooks on orthodontics.

the only Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry to have undergone a formal training in adult
conservation, allowing her to adapt techniques used in the treatment of older patients
to the developing dentition. In 1999 Kathy took the position of Consultant in Paediatric
Dentistry at the Edinburgh Dental Institute where she was also Head of Department
until 2011 when she became Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College
of Surgeons of England. Kathy is also actively involved in dento-legal work, working
regularly with Medical Protection. In 2010, she completed ten years as a member of the
Board of Dental Protection, having been Chairman from 2006.

Tony is Professor of Orthodontics at the University of Bristol and
Consultant Orthodontist at the Royal United Hospitals in Bath.
He is currently training programme director for the DDS/M.Orth
programme at the University of Bristol, is Director of the BOSF
and was previously Chairman of the Consultant Orthodontists
Group of BOS and the Developments and Standards Committee.
Kathy Harley
Kathy graduated from Guy’s in 1981 and completed a
Masters degree in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman
Dental Institute in 1986. She was appointed Consultant
and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Dentistry at
the Eastman in 1991. Her main area of clinical interest is
in the restorative treatment of dental anomalies. One of
Professor Sir Michael Marmot
Sir Michael Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology at University
College London, and President of the World Medical Association.
He is the author of The Health Gap: the challenge of an
unequal world (Bloomsbury: 2015) and Status Syndrome: how
your place on the social gradient directly affects your health
(Bloomsbury: 2004). Professor Marmot holds the Harvard Lown
Professorship for 2014-2017 and is the recipient of the Prince Mahidol Award for Public
Health 2015. He has been awarded honorary doctorates from 17 universities. Marmot
has led research groups on health inequalities for 40 years. He chairs the Commission
on Equity and Health Inequalities in the Americas, set up in 2015 by the World Health
Organizations’ Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO/ WHO). He was Chair of the
Commission on Social Determinants of Health (CSDH), which was set up by the World
Health Organization in 2005, and produced the report entitled: ‘Closing the Gap in a
Nicky Mandall
Nicky Mandall is Consultant Orthodontist and Clinical Lead of the
Orthodontic Department at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation
Trust. Her research interests include making a contribution to
orthodontic clinical research through randomized controlled
trials. She has been invited to speak about her scientific research
at national and European conferences. Nicky is external
examiner for the Manchester Orthodontic Therapist programme and is also an MOrth
examiner. She was the MSc supervisor for the winner of the Houston Research Award in
2010, was awarded best scientific paper in the Journal of Orthodontics in 2011 and 2012
and was presented with the FEO award for the best scientific paper in Europe in 2011 and
2012.
Roy Lilley
Roy Lilley is a businessman with over 40 years’ experience.
He started his first enterprise from scratch, built it to a multimillion pound turnover and sold it to management and partners
in 1989. He is now an established independent health policy
analyst and writer. He has contributed to the Today Programme,
Newsnight, the Midnight Hour, BBC News 24, BBC 5 Live,
Channel 5 News, Sky, ITN and regional TV and radio programmes.
He has written for the Guardian, Sunday Times, Telegraph and many national newspapers,
journals and management periodicals including a regular column in Pharmaceutical
Marketing magazine. Roy’s position as a former chair of the NHS Trust and a commentator
and analyst of healthcare policy has contributed to his unparalleled reach over social
media in the NHS. You can follow Roy on Twitter @RoyLilley. He has been voted the top
UK speaker on NHS topics twice and is listed in the Debretts most influential people in
healthcare.

Simon Littlewood
Simon Littlewood has been a Consultant Orthodontist
at St Luke’s Hospital, Bradford, UK since 2001 and
is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Leeds Dental
Institute. He co-founded the UK’s first orthodontic
therapy course with Trevor Hodge in 2007 and is still
one of the Course Directors of the Yorkshire Orthodontic
Therapy Course. He is on the Board of the Faculty of Dental Surgery for the Royal
College of Surgeons of England, and was previously Director of Professional
Development for the British Orthodontic Society from 2012-2015. Away from
orthodontics he is a keen, but very limited skier, and a runner who tries hard, but
achieves little.”
Janet Clarke
Janet Clarke qualified in the 1980s from Birmingham University
and went on to work in general practice, but primarily the
community dental service in and around Birmingham. She has
significant involvement with the British Dental Association,
firstly as Chair of the Central Committee for Community and
Public Health Dentistry and then as BDA President in 2011.
She was a member of the Steele Review team in 2008 and led the production of the
Commissioning Guide for Special Care Dentistry that was published in 2015. She is
currently Deputy Chief Dental Officer for England, chairs the Local Professional Network for
dentistry in the West Midlands and was awarded an MBE for services to dentistry in 2010.

Tim Newton is Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry
and Honorary Consultant Health Psychologist at King’s College
London Dental Institute. Tim has worked in the behavioural
sciences in relation to dentistry for over 20 years, and his
particular interests include the management of dental anxiety,
interventions to enhance oral health related behaviour and
the working life of the dental team. He has published over 250 peer reviewed articles in
scientific journals. In 2015 he was lucky enough to be awarded the IADR Behavioural,
Epidemiological & Health Services Research Distinguished Scientist Award.

Trevor Hodge
Trevor qualified as a dentist in 1995 from Bristol University
and as a specialist orthodontist from Birmingham Dental
Hospital in 2002. Since completing his consultant training
at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London in 2005 he has
worked as a hospital consultant at Leeds Dental Institute
and following this has spent part of his week in specialist
practice. He has been a co-course director of the Yorkshire Orthodontic Therapy Course
since its inception in 2007.
Padhraig Fleming
Padhraig Fleming is Reader and Clinical Lead in Orthodontics
at the Institute of Dentistry, QMUL. Padhraig studied Dentistry
at Trinity College Dublin graduating with a Gold Medal and
First Class Honours. He undertook postgraduate and Consultant
training in Orthodontics at the Royal London. He was awarded
his MSc. with Distinction in 2007, the Membership in
Orthodontics and British Orthodontic Society Medal in 2008, FDS (Orth.) from the Royal
College of Surgeons in 2010 and his PhD in 2013. He is an Associate Editor of American
Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dentistry. He has
published over 100 peer-reviewed papers and has received research awards from the
British Orthodontic Society and the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Award from the American
Association of Orthodontists in 2011. He has recently co-authored two orthodontic
textbooks- ‘Clinical Cases in Orthodontics’ and ‘Functional Appliances: Theory and Practice’
Generation’ in August 2008. At the request of the British Government, he conducted the
Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England post 2010, which published its report
‘Fair Society, Healthy Lives’ in February 2010. This was followed by the European Review
of Social Determinants of Health and the Health Divide, for WHO Euro in 2014. He chaired
the Breast Screening Review for the NHS National Cancer Action Team and was a member
of The Lancet-University of Oslo Commission on Global Governance for Health. He set up
and led a number of longitudinal cohort studies on the social gradient in health in the UCL
Department of Epidemiology & Public Health (where he was head of department for 25
years): the Whitehall II Studies of British Civil Servants, investigating explanations for the
striking inverse social gradient in morbidity and mortality; the English Longitudinal Study
of Ageing (ELSA), and several international research efforts on the social determinants
of health. He served as President of the British Medical Association (BMA) in 20102011, and is President of the British Lung Foundation. He is an Honorary Fellow of the
American College of Epidemiology; a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences; an
Honorary Fellow of the British Academy, and an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Public
Health of the Royal College of Physicians. He was a member of the Royal Commission
on Environmental Pollution for six years and in 2000 he was knighted by Her Majesty
The Queen, for services to epidemiology and the understanding of health inequalities.
Professor Marmot is a Member of the National Academy of Medicine.

Toby Gillgrass
Toby is a Consultant Orthodontist working in Glasgow Dental
Hospital. He is currently the Chairman for the Specialist Advisory
Board for Orthodontics for the RCS Edinburgh and Clinical Lead
for Cleft Care Scotland.
His main research interests include biomaterials of relevance to orthodontics and also
clinical trials. He is principal UK expert on two ISO materials working groups, has over
120 publications in peer reviewed journals, has contributed to 4 book chapters and has
published two textbooks on orthodontics.

the only Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry to have undergone a formal training in adult
conservation, allowing her to adapt techniques used in the treatment of older patients
to the developing dentition. In 1999 Kathy took the position of Consultant in Paediatric
Dentistry at the Edinburgh Dental Institute where she was also Head of Department
until 2011 when she became Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College
of Surgeons of England. Kathy is also actively involved in dento-legal work, working
regularly with Medical Protection. In 2010, she completed ten years as a member of the
Board of Dental Protection, having been Chairman from 2006.

Sue Cunningham
Susan Cunningham graduated from Leeds University
in 1988. Her orthodontic training was undertaken at
the Eastman Dental Institute, gaining an MSc in 1994,
Membership in Orthodontics in 1995 and PhD in
2000. She is now Professor of Orthodontics/Honorary
Consultant at UCL Eastman Dental Institute and is
Programme Director of the postgraduate orthodontic programme, one of the
largest postgraduate programmes in Europe. She is involved in all aspects of
postgraduate orthodontic education in the UK and Europe; she is on the British
Orthodontic Society Board of Trustees and is also Honorary Secretary of the
European Orthodontic Society. Her main research interests are in the psychology
of dentofacial deformity and the outcomes of orthodontic and orthognathic
treatment. She has published around 90 original research papers and contributed
to a number of specialist textbooks.
