Overview of cranial bones
-Neurocranium, calvaria, cranial base
Main features of all neurocranial bones should be described
-Viscerocranium, 15 irregular bones
Main features of all viscerocranial bones should be described
-Pneumatized bones with air spaces
Facial aspects
-Frontal bone, sqamous part, glabella, nasion, supraorbital margins
-Zygomatic bones
-Maxillae with alveolar processes, infraorbital foramen
-Mandible with body and ramus, mental foramina and protuberance
Lateral aspects
-Temporal fossa with temporal lines
-Zygomatic arch, pterion
-External acoustic opening (pore), mastoid and styloid processes
Occipital aspects
-Squamous part of occipital bone with protuberance
-Zygomatic arch, pterion
Supperior aspects
-Parietal and frontal eminences
-Coronal, sagittal and lambdoid sutures
-Vertex
External surface of cranial base
-From anterior to posterior all features and principle communication should be recognized and
named.
