ALTERNATIVES TO THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT MASTER LIST
(Updated February 10, 2015)
The following alternatives to Foreign Language plan have been developed to ensure that a student with official approval
as having a learning disability will study: (a) elements of language and grammar; (b) global issues; and (c) elements of
history, literature, arts, and/or socioeconomic and political systems of a specific nation or region of the student’s choice.
Alternative courses are available in each area to allow for schedule conflicts and student interests. The student should
choose alternative courses in consultation with a SNAP (Students Needing Access Parity) administrator.

The student must possess credit for any prerequisite course(s) required. Please be aware that courses at the
300-level or above will always require a higher level of understanding and capability in the subject matter.

No course taken for a major or minor requirement may also satisfy the Alternatives to Foreign Language
program.

No course taken as part of any other general degree requirement may also satisfy the Alternatives to Foreign
