EXAM GRADING
All written examinations will be graded on the basis of one of the following
methods:
1. The highest score achieved (92% or greater of the total points possible)
equaling 100%.
2. Adjusted percentages after item audit, allowing for questions to be dismissed.
3. Straight 100 percent of possible points. (most common method)
**Some course material must be accomplished at a 100% level, and will not be
adjusted to the class norm.

FINAL COURSE GRADING
Attendance, participation and professionalism are expected at 100%. .1 will be
deducted off of the final course grade for absences. Students who do not
participate in class discussion and activities may also be deducted points.
Each student is required to take all Exams as scheduled. There will be no makeup sessions and an evaluation of zero will be given any Exam not attempted when
scheduled. If an emergency should arise, the lead course instructor must be
notified before class/clinic to make alternative arrangements, if such
arrangements are possible. (This will be at the discretion of the lead instructor.)
Acceptance of late work Grades for all assignments received or completed
after the end of the class period in which it is due will be reduced by 25% for each
calendar day it is late. This will include assignments that have not met
submission guidelines and have been returned to complete even if submitted on
time. This will exclude proficiencies/competencies.
The student must complete ALL course requirements or automatically receive an
Incomplete grade. If the student fails to maintain academic standards stated in
the Student Program Policy, the student will be placed on academic probation or
dismissed from the Dental Hygiene Program.
Incomplete course requirements (given an “I” course grade) must be completed
within the first 2 weeks of the next quarter or a course grade of 1.9 may be
entered on the student’s academic record.
IF AT ANY TIME DURING THE QUARTER, YOU HAVE CONCERNS WITH
REGARD TO MEETING COURSE REQUIREMENTS, MEET WITH THE LEAD
INSTRUCTOR AS SOON AS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM IS IDENTIFIED.
For all scores earned in DHYG 118 the percentages will be converted to a final
course grade according to the following Dental Hygiene Department scale:
