Condyle
A rounded articular surface at the extremity of a bone
(knuckle like).
Condyles of distal Femur
Crest
A ridge, crest, or elevated line projecting from a level or
evenly rounded surface. A prominent border or ridge.
Iliac Crest
Epicondyle
A projection from a long bone near the articular extremity
above or upon the condyle. (Epi means upper)

Femur.
Facet
A small smooth area on a bone or other firm structure. A
worn spot on a tooth, produced by chewing or grinding.
Facet Joint Lumbar
Area.
Foramen
An aperture or perforation through a bone or a membranous
structure.
Vertebral Foramen
Fossa
A depression usually more or less longitudinal in shape
below the level of the surface of a part.
Supraspinous Fossa
Groove
A narrow elongated depression
or furrow on any surface that
accommodates a soft
structure such as a blood
vessel, nerve, or tendon.

Head
The rounded extremity of a bone. A rounded articular
projection supported n the constricted portion (neck) of a
bone.

Interosseous
Lying between or connecting bones; denoting certain
muscles and ligaments.
Interosseous membrane
between two bones.
Linea
A less prominent ridge or crest. A line.

Process
A method or mode of action used in the attainment of a
certain result. In anatomy, a projection or outgrowth.
Coracoid Process of Scapula
Ramus
A part of an irregularly shaped bone (less slender than a
“process”) that forms an angle with the main body (e.g.,
ramus of mandible).

A sharps slender process on the posterior spine.

Peg-shaped; denoting one of several
slender bony processes.

Suture
A form of fibrous joint in which two bones formed in
membrane are united by a fibrous membrane continuous
with the periosteum.

One of the bony prominences developed from independent
osseous centers near the upper extremity of the femur;
there are two in man, three in the horse.
