• Hinduism- The oldest religion on earth that we
know of
• Founded in India around 1700 BC
• No single founder
• Sacred Text: Rig Veda
• Beliefs: Brahman is the source of all divinity
(holiness)
• Believe in reincarnation (soul is reborn many
times based on Karma).
Belief in: Caste System
Hindu Leaders
The leaders are the Brahmin Priests
They teach the Rig Veda to their sons and are the highest caste in
Hinduism

Holi
It celebrates spring, recognizes
various events in Hindu mythology
and is time of disregarding social norms and indulging in general
merrymaking.
Diwali
Hindu festival of lights lasting five
days. For many Hindus, Diwali is
also New Year's Eve.

Confucianism
• Confucianism is a philosophy that began in China
around 500 - 400 B.C.
• Founded by Confucius.
• Beliefs: Confucianism is concerned mainly with social
organization and politeness. Ethical system, not
religion.
• It emphasizes respect for elders and education.
• Many books (not necessarily sacred or holy)
• Leaders are sages (educated men). They are not
priests.
• No holidays- Everyday acts are considered rituals
