Postdoctoral position in Mixed Integer Linear Optimization for Water
Resource Management at the University of California, Davis
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in applied and computational mixed integer
linear optimization for applications in water resource management.
The candidate is expected to closely work with a group of computational scientists and water
resources management engineers. The candidate's responsibilities include the analysis and
development of real-world mixed-integer linear optimization models, performance tuning of
open source mixed integer solvers, and the development of a high performance implementation
for multi-core computers.
Experience in mixed integer optimization modeling, familiarity with the COIN-OR solvers (CBC,
CLP), Java programming including Java Native Interface (JNI), and the principles of parallel
computing on multi-core machines are expected.
The initial appointment is for one year, and the renewal of the appointment in the following
years is contingent upon excellent performance and the renewal of government contracts. A
competitive salary based on the applicant's qualifications and experience will be offered.
The position is available immediately and will be filled as soon as a suitable candidate is
identified. The candidate should have received (or be about to receive) a doctoral degree in
optimization, computational mathematics, operations research, or computer science. Applicants
should send a vita, bibliography with relevant reprints, and a brief description of research
experience and interests to
