SAUDI ORTHODONTIC SOCIETY EXCELLENCY IN CLINICAL PRACTICE PRIZE
In its strive to promote clinical excellency among its members and the orthodontic community the Saudi
orthodontic Society (SOS) decided to award an annual Prize for best orthodontically treated case.
Regulations for Excellency in clinical practice Prize
1. Excellency in clinical practice Cases Prize is awarded annually to the presenter of the best case,
as judged by panel of referees selected by Saudi Orthodontic Society Board.
2. The judges’ decision is final and neither they nor the SOS Prize Committee or Chairman will enter into
any correspondence regarding the outcome.
3. There are prizes, of a total of 10,000 SAR. The winner of the first prize will in addition receive the
SOS Trophy with the eligibility of publishing his/her case in the J Orthodont Sci the official publication
of the SOS (in accordance with publishing guidelines).
4. This prize is open to any member (including Postgraduate students in orthodontic programs) of the
Saudi Orthodontic Society who must be in good standing with the SOS and their appropriate
professional bodies.
5. Submissions to present cases must be made on the standard application form obtainable from the
SOS website or through contacting SOS secretary .The closing date for receipt of completed entry
Saturday 30 November 2013, each participant is allowed to present one case only.
6.Case records (including models) and case presentation file should show the initials of the patient but
not the presenter’s name. Applicants are advised to ensure that they retain duplicate models and case
records, as the security of submitted records cannot be guaranteed. Applicants will be asked to present
models pre, progress and post treatment records only if their case are selected for final nomination
for the prize The Saudi Orthodontic Society Prize Committee accepts no responsibility for damage to the
models and/or case folders submitted.
7. Presenters are advised to seek the consent of the patient and/or their guardian to the cases being
shown at the Saudi Orthodontic Conference.
8. Presenters may not advertise any orthodontic appliances, brand or products.
9. Case submitted must show exceptional Excellency both on diagnosis, treatment planning and
treatment execution with preference to be postretention period at least one year.
10.Case submitted must be treated mostly with orthodontic appliances with minor intervention from
other dental specialty e.g. prosthodontics, Maxillofacial surgery

11.The prize will be presented in special ceremony held during the annual meeting of SOS it will be
presented by the president of SOS accompanied by distinguish delegates .Its a must for the
finalist candidates to be present during prize ceremony otherwise he/she may not be
awarded, in case he/she could not be present a letter should be address to SOS president
explaining reason for absence.
13 THE SOS Excellency Prize committee will provide transport tickets to finalist who needs these tickets
to be present at time of ceremony.
13. The winner of the award may be approached by the Editor of the Journal of Orthodontic Science
the official the official publication of Saudi orthodontic society to submit a case report for
publication, subject to the normal refereeing process. It is therefore a requirement not have published a
case report based on presented cases in any other orthodontic journal.
