Orthodontic Faculty Development Fellowship Award Dr. Edmund Khoo, New York University Short Biography Dr. Edmund Khoo is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and member of the American Association of Orthodontists. He currently teaches orthodontics full-time at his alma mater, New York University. Teaching is Dr. Khoo’s number one passion and as the Director for Orientation and Credentialing, Dr. Khoo is responsible for training postgraduate residents to become American board (ABO) certified orthodontists. Brief Description of the Project The Orthodontic Faculty Complete Development Plan aims to provide an all-encompassing approach to enriching and enhancing my orthodontic academic’s abilities in four main categories: education, research, teaching and clinical skills. Each of these categories consists of short-term and long-term goals with specific aims and objectives to create a holistic approach to an all-rounded academic career. How Orthodontic Education will Benefit from this Award As a full-time career academic, funding additional programs to enhance and improve my abilities and skills can be a challenging task. This award allows me to participate in programs, courses and workshops to enrich my ability to become a better academic and educator which in turn will have direct benefits for my students. It also facilitates the opportunities to network and collaborate with like-minded academics and educators in the field for the greater good of improving orthodontic education. Why the Foundation is Important to the Project It is no secret that the AAOF has been funding a variety of orthodontic awards over many years. The Foundation’s support is pivotal to not only enhancing the awardee’s career but enriching the overall level of orthodontic education. As the AAOF has assisted many full-time academics in their career, so will it also assist me in mine.
