As a member of the Arts and Sciences Department, I teach classes including Biology,
Ecology, Oceanography, Environmental Field Sampling, Environmental Issues, Applied
Statistics, Science and Society, Freshman Seminars and laboratory sections associated
with the above classes. I also chaperoned a group of students in a community service
project to Mexico, January 2007 and to Costa Rica in January 2008.

Graduate Student and Teaching Assistant, University of
Rhode Island
Advisor – Dr. Roger LeBrun
While enrolled in Ph.D. program taught lab sections, I graded exams, and guest lectured.
My research focused on the aquatic ecology of catch basins and effects of the juvenile
growth hormone mimic methoprene on mosquitoes, nontarget organisms, and the catch
basin ecosystem. In addition supervised several undergraduates participating in a RI
Coastal Research Program.
•May 2001- October, 2002
Mosquito Technician, Rhode Island, Dept. of
Environmental Management, Wakefield, RI
Supervisor – Dr. Alan Gettman
I assisted in mosquito surveillance in Rhode Island and experimented with juvenile
growth hormone mimic larvicides and their effects on aquatic ecosystems.
•May 1999 – Dec 1999
Plankton Consultant
Supervisor – Dr. Elizabeth Clark
I enumerated plankton from experiments conducted by Dr. Clark in a coastal lagoon in
the Florida Keys.
•June 1994 – Dec. 2003
Research Assistant III, Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA
Supervisors – Dr. Peter Wiebe, Dr. Carin Ashjian, Dr.
Larry Madin, Dr. Stephen Bollens
I collected and analyzed plankton samples including several months of sea time in
addition to microscopy, video analysis, data analysis using computers, presentation of the
data through graphics and written work, and general lab management. I also supervised
and trained undergraduate college students working on projects both in the lab and on
ships.
•Sept. 1997 – Aug. 1998
