clinical refraction. Optical system of abnormal eye. Accommodation and
presbyopia. Correction of refractional anomalies.
Practical skills: determining of accommodation, clinical refraction.
Optical correction with lenses.

Pathology of the oculomotor muscles. Strabismus (in the Regional
Childs Hospital). Anatomy and functions of the oculomotor muscles.
Concominant and non-concominant strabismus, heterophoria. Modern
methods of treatment.
Practical skills: ocular movements examination, Hirschberg test.

Diseases of eyelids and lacrimal apparatus. Blefaritis, chalazion.
Ptosis, lagophthalmos. Palpebral tumours. Lacrimal gland: anomalies,
inflammation, tumours. Sjögren syndrome. Acute and chronical
dacryocystitis. Dacryocystitis of a newborns.
Practical skills: eyelids eversion, nasolacrimal test.

follicular conjunctivitis. Trachoma. Tuberculosis of conjunctiva. Cysts
and tumours. Anatomy and functions of the orbit. Methods of

tumors. Practical skills: Byomicroscopy, exophthalmometry,
interpretation of X-ray diagrams, CT, MRI-results.

examination. Diseases of the cornea: anomalies, inflammation,
dystrophies, tumors. Diseases of the sclera: inflammation, ectasia,
scleromalacia, cysts, tumors.
Practical skills: fluorescent test, pachimetry, biomicroscopy.

Diseases of the uveal tract. Diseases of the lens and vitreous body.
Anatomy and functions. Methods of examination. Anomalies,
inflammation: anterior, posterior, peripheral uveitis. Tumors. Congenital
abnormalities of the lens. Cataract. Aphakia. Modern cataract surgery.
Pathology of the vitreous body.
Practical skills: determining light reaction of the iris, passing light
examination.

Glaucoma. Normal outflow of the aques humor. Pathology of
intraocular pressure. Methods of intraocular pressure examinations.
Examination of disk. Primary and secondary, open-angle and closedangle glaucoma. Differential diagnosis, treatment.
Practical skills: measuring intraocular pressure, different types of
tonometry.

Classification, diagnostics, treatment. Ultraviolet burns.
Practical skills: Interpretation of X-ray diagrams, computer tomograms.
Urgent treatment of the burns.
The retina and its diseases. Anatomy and functions of the retina.
Methods of examination. Dystrophic diseases of the retina (central and
peripheral). Retinal detachment. Tumors.
Practical skills: Amsler's test, optical coherence tomography (OCT),
fluorescent angiography (FA).
Inflammatory and toxic lesions of optic nerve. Anatomy of the optic
nerve. Congested optic disk. Neuritis. Optic nerve atrophy. Optic nerve
anomalies.
Practical skills: direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy.
Urgent conditions: Acute impassability of central retinal vein and its
branches, embolism of central retinal artery, retinal detachment, neuritis
of optic nerve, ischemia of optic nerve, hemophthalmus.
Ocular changes in general diseases: diabetes, arterial hypertension,
atherosclerosis, kidney diseases, toxoplasmosis, blood diseases, AIDS,
toxicosis, rheumatism, hypovitaminosis.
Practical skills: fundus ophthalmoscopy in general diseases.
Final module control.
