W-220 5th Quantum Universe Symposium Groningen,
The Fifth Quantum Universe Symposium took place on April and 2,2015.
The first day of the symposium consisted of 3 masterclass lectures for MSc and
PhD students, the second day of a workshop with 8 keynote and invited lectures.
The venue for the masterclasses was "het Oog" in Linnaeusborg, the venue
for the workshop the Zernikeborg at the Zernike Campus of the University of
Groningen.
The workshop gathered a mixed company of experts from theoretical physics,
particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. A highlight of the workshop were
the 3 masterclass lectures by prof. W. Marciano (the standard model), prof.
S. Cole (cosmological simulations) and prof. K. Ganga (CMB). They also took
care of the keynote lectures on the 2nd day of the symposium. Invited lectures
by S. Zaroubi (LOFAR and the epoch of reionization), P. Decowski (search
for dark matter and the XENON experiment) and D. Samtleben (ground based
CMB experiments) complemented a very successful and much appreciated workshop.
Also in 2016 we plan to organize a QU6 meeting along the same lines, with
a day with a series of masterclass lectures and a scientific workshop.
