Class 2015
The S.O.S. Orthodontic Study Club is now opening a new Class 2015.
The Club is the first exclusive orthodontic study club in Thailand,
which is setup in 1996 and open to all clinicians who has interrest to
join.
The Objectives :
The SOS Orthodontic Study Club will:
Provide clinical and didactic instruction in orthodontics for
postdoctoral students.
1. Provide the members the knowledge of basic and advance clinical
orthodontics.
2. Give the members opportunity to share ideas, experiences, tips
and tricks not only in clinical orthodontics, but also in general.
3. Help the members solving existing problems in case management.
4. Produce qualified orthodontists and distribute him or her to
serve in their surrounding communities as an educational
resource and as a provider of quality orthodontic treatment

Our Activities composed of:
A. Lectures and Laboratory Procedures: The first meeting,
and 14 courses (include 3 days Introduction or 1st Meeting) will be
arranged on Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays every 1-2 months
interval or after the class majority’s decision. For this year due to
time loss from the great flooding, we recommended to speed up the
first 3 courses as follow:

Should these meeting and course schedule do not fit anyone’s
private plan, it can be changed, by consultation with all class mates.
Readiness of all participants is required. All students are requested
to confirm that they can participate the Class 2015 and all 4
appointments by January ……., 2015
B. Home coming day (Case conferences)
Two to three day case conference and lectures will be
arranged according to members’ need once a year. So get your high
standardized case documents and the questions ready. If you wish
to be our speaker, please feel free to apply.
C. Practice visits

The students are advised to take this part as often as possible.
Saturday is usually recommended.
The curriculum is modified from the fulltime 2-year
postgraduate residency training program at Frankfurt University
Clinic, Germany and adapted into part-time training program at our
facility. During this time frame, the teaching in our Study Club will
be stressed on dento-facial orthopedics, clinical orthodontics, wire
bending technique, differential diagnosis and treatment planning,
biomechanics, TMJ related occlusion principle – bilateral
symmetrical canine guidance, Tripodization of occlusion, unique
management of TMJ, TMD and Migraines, which is taught at no
other institutions in Thailand and Asia, Surgical orthodontic
technique (Maxillary Expansion and 2 jaw simultaneous procedure).
The concepts cover all kinds of cases such as early treatment
(Orthopedic concept) for young Class II or III cases, different
types of malocclusion with different level of severities including
Dentofacial deformities.
After finishing the 3rd course, the course participant will be able to
receive their own patients in their offices and treat under Dr.
Schwan Somsiri’s technical support and on-line instruction.
Some Dental Practitioners may experience problems with
orthodontists working with them, you do not know what kind of
technique the orthodontists are practicing, you cannot comment
their technique, and problems in treating your cases occur over and
over. The S.O.S. orthodontic study club will show the solution. Once
“Lenin” said “to trust is good, but to control is better”.
There are many orthodontic teachers now, some are qualified
and some are less qualified. Dr. Schwan Somsiri spent 17 years in
Germany, 12 years at Frankfurt University and also associated in
several U.S. universities and “Bergen University” in Bergen, Norway.
He has the opportunities to compare the curriculums of those
Universities. This makes him aware of how to teach Dentofacial
Orthopedics and Orthodontics the right way. First we must have a

concrete “Curriculum”. Please compare ours to those from other
institutes, which providing only “Orthodontic program” and many of
them have “No Curriculum”.
How can you receive good education without “Curriculum”?
Only students, who follow the footprint of his or her master
will receive recognition and earn good reputation from their
patients, which they will enjoy them for the life time.
