Copy all data from Nebiv.xlsx into a new file named AdditionalPA07.xlsx.
Insert a new column to the right of the 3months SBP (mmHg) named TreatmentEffic. Display for each
subject if the treatment was efficient using the following criterion:
A treatment is considered efficient if the subjects have the SBP at three months less than 130 mmHg
Create a new variable named MAP baseline (mean arterial pressure). Calculate for each subject the value
of MAP using the following formula:
MAP baseline = (2*baseline DBP+ baseline SBP)/3
Create a graphical representation to investigate the relation between age and baseline SBP.
Create a graphical representation to see the distribution of treatment according with gender.
Compute the coefficient of variation for male patients for the following variables: Age (years), Baseline
SBP (mmHG), 3months SBP (mmHG), 3months DBP (mmHG).
Compute the following descriptive statistics for 3months SBP (mmHG), 3months DBP (mmHG) separately
for subjects treated with Nebivolol and those treated with Propranolol: mean, median, mode, quartile 1,
quartile 3, standard error, skewness and kurtosis.
Create the histogram of Age. Based on the distribution of data and on values of skewness and kurtosis
write under the graph if you consider as normal distributed.
Create the histogram of Baseline DBP (mmHg). Based on the distribution of data and on values of
skewness and kurtosis write under the graph if you consider as normal distributed.
Create the histogram of 3months DBP (mmHg). Based on the distribution of data and on values of
skewness and kurtosis write under the graph if you consider as normal distributed.
Compute using predefine functions the point estimator (mean) and associated 95% confidence
intervals for Baseline DBP (mmHg) just for patients who received ‘propanolol’!
Compute using predefine functions the point estimator (mean) and associated 95% confidence
intervals for 3months DBP (mmHg) just for patients who received ‘nebivolol’!
We are interested in the efficacy of the Nebivolol on diastolic blood pressure, so we want to answer to the
following question: Is the mean 3months DBP of subjects treated with Nebivolol different by the mean of
3months DBP of subjects treated with Propranolol? Use 95% confidence interval to answer this question.
Which is the probability to have nausea or vomiting as adverse effect for male subjects? Use 95%
confidence interval to answer this question.
Is the probability of nausea or vomiting on subjects who received nebivolol significantly different by the
probability of nausea or vomiting on subjects who received propranolol? Use 95% confidence interval to
answer this question.
