 The Sun is the nearest star to the Earth.
 We could never live there because the temperature on its surface is about
5,500 C.
 How hot do you think it is in the center?
 An incredible 15 million C.
 75% of the Earth is water.
 Life is possible on the Earth because it’ s not too hot or too cold.
 One more reason is the air which we can’ t live without.

The Moon is our closest neighbour.
It gives light at night but it’ s not a star.
Is it a planet then?

It’ s the Earth’ s satellite.
 Mercury is a chemical element with the symbol Hg and atomic
number 80.
 A heavy, silvery d-block element, Mercury is the only metallic element that
is liquid at standard conditions for temperature and pressure; the only
other element that is liquid under these conditions is bromine, though
metals such as caesium, gallium, and rubidium melt just above room
temperature.
 Venus is the second planet from the Sun, orbiting it every
224.7 Earth days.
 It has no natural satellite. It is named after the Roman goddess of love and
beauty.
 Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System and the
second-smallest solid planet. Mars is rocky and cold, with polar ice caps

planetary contrast, the interior of Uranus is mainly composed of ices and
rocks.
 Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar
System. It is the fourth-largest planet by diameter and the third-largest by
mass. Named after the Roman god of the sea, its astronomical symbol, a
stylised version of the god Neptune's trident.
