Endocrine Senior High School Year Book
Your task is to create a yearbook for Endocrine Senior High School, featuring each of the following ‘students’:
the pituitary, pineal, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries, and testes. You will be graded on
the quality of the information, creativity, and presentation demonstrated by your yearbook.
Format
Each gland should have a ½ to full page entry that creatively describes the major actions of the gland, the
hormones produced by the gland, and the regulation / stimulation of the gland.
The entry must include a hand-drawn picture of the gland (this can be cartoon-style, if you want), and “About
Me” section (this is where you will likely put most of the info), and at least one other heading that you might
see in a year book, such as “Most likely to … “ or “Favorite Quote” or “One Word that Describes Me …”
Where to find the Info
You are expected to use your textbook as your source. The major actions and hormones produced are
described in your textbook on page 657. Remember, since this info is already laid out clearly and simply for
you, your job is to present it in a creative – and hopefully memorable – manner. The regulation / stimulation
of each gland is a little harder, but it can also be found in your textbook under each gland’s section. Look for
what stimulates the release of each hormone … it might be another hormone, or a change in the level of a
stimulus in the body, or it might be a signal from the nervous system. Ask your teacher if you need help!
