Clearance for Dams
1275. SHRI VINOD KUMAR SONKAR:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a)
(b)
whether proposals have been received for grant of environmental clearance to
construct dams in different States/Union Territories including Uttar Pradesh to stop
the damage caused by the flood in various rivers every year; and
if so, the details and status thereof, State-wise?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND
CLIMATE CHANGE

(a) & (b) The Ministry has received sixteen (16) proposals for construction of multipurpose,
irrigations and flood control dams in the country during the last 3 years. Environmental clearance
has been accorded to 12 projects. A list of these 12 projects is annexed. However, consideration of
four projects necessitate further detailed information from project proponents, and the same have
not been submitted by them. Hence, these projects have been delisted from the consideration list
and no proposal is pending.
Badaun Lift Canal Project in Badaun District in Uttar Pradesh has been granted scoping
clearance for conducting environment impact assessment (EIA) study and request for
environmental clearance has not been received.
