Curriculum Vitae
My PhD research focused on the localization and staging performance in prostate
cancer patients with functional and molecular MR imaging techniques.
These included proton 3-dimensional MR spectroscopy, dynamic contrast-enhanced,
and diffusion weighted MR imaging.
I have focused my research on the implementation of 3-D spectroscopic imaging to
measure metabolite signals in the clinical workup in patients with prostate cancer.
Spectroscopic imaging is very specific in detecting and localizing prostate cancer, but
lacks high spatial resolution, that can be obtained with diffusion weighted and
dynamic contrast-enhanced MR imaging. The outcome indicated that the
combination of functional MR imaging techniques significantly increased tumor
localization accuracy compared to conventional anatomical MR techniques.
Consequently, this exact tumor localization can be used to guide focal therapies.
Currently, I am implementing and performing oncological interventions with special
focus on MR guided interventions, such as MR-guided cryosurgery and MR-guided
laser ablation.
