A point is an exact location in space.
A line is a straight path of points that goes on and on in two directions.
A plane is an endless flat surface.
Parallel lines never intersect.
Intersecting lines pass through the same point.
Perpendicular lines are lines that form square corners.
Line Segment - Part of a line with two endpoints.
Ray - Part of a line that has one end point and goes on forever in the other direction.
Angle - A figure formed by two rays that have the same endpoint.
Right angle - a square corner
Acute angle - less than a right angle
Obtuse angle - greater than a right angle
Straight angle - forms a straight line
Rhombus – a quadrilateral that has opposite sides that are parallel and all of its sides are
the same length.
Trapezoid – a quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides.
Parallelogram – has 2 pairs of parallel sides.
Rectangle – it has 4 right angles.
Square – has 4 right angles and all sides are the same length.
Equilateral triangle- 3 equal sides
Isosceles triangle- at least 2 equal sides
Scalene triangle- zero equal sides
Right triangle- has one right angle
Acute triangle- has three acute angles
Obtuse triangle- has one obtuse angle
Rotate – to turn
Rotational symmetry - When a figure can rotate onto itself in less than a full turn
If you rotate a figure 1/4 turn, you have made a 90 degree turn.
If you rotate the figure 1/2 turn, you have made an 180 degree turn.
