Summary of surveillance data for infectious salmon anaemia virus (ISAV)
in conjunction with infectious salmon anaemia (ISA) free zones and
compartments, 2013
The Norwegian Veterinary Institute has summarized data collected by the Norwegian Food Safety
Authority (NFSA) for infectious salmon anaemia virus (ISAV) in conjunction with infectious salmon
anaemia (ISA) free zones and compartments. Design and evaluation of the surveillance programme are
not considered in this report.
Laboratory analyses were carried out by Patogen Analyse AS and Pharmaq Analytiq. Laboratory results
from analyses of fish samples (heart, kidney, milt and ovarian fluid) were received via NFSA Patogen
Analyse AS.
In total, 5153 samples from 29 farms with Atlantic salmon and 51 samples from 4 farms with Rainbow
trout were investigated for ISAV in ISA free zones or compartments. Geographical locations of the fish
farms are shown in figure 1-3. Pathogenic HPR-deleted ISAV was not detected. Non-pathogenic HPR0
ISAV was not detected.
