Textbook Info An online textbook is available to all our students. Students will need to create their own account. The book can be found at www.classzone.com. Students will select High School Math for Texas and then select "Find your Book". Our book is Geometry 2007 Texas edition. Toward the bottom of the next page is a link to the online book. Students will need to create a free online login account. The code students will need when creating the account is 3513546-20. If you have trouble creating your account, please contact your teacher. R&TN (Read and Take Notes) As a preAP/GT course, we expect our students to learn some of the introductory information on their own before coming to class for the lesson. This way, we have more time to go over more complex concepts in class. Students are expected to read through the lesson in the textbook and take notes (ex. For section 1.1, read pages 2-5 and take notes.). The minimum amount of notes required is defining the words below in your notes spiral for each section assigned. The more you learn beforehand, the easier it may be for you to grasp the concepts in class. Chapter 3 3.1 – parallel lines, skew lines, parallel planes, transversal, corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, consecutive interior angles, parallel postulate, perpendicular postulate 3.2 – Corresponding Angles Postulate, Alternate Interior Angles Theorem, Alternate Exterior Angles Theorem, Consecutive Interior Angles Theorem 3.3 – Corresponding Angles Converse, Alternate Interior Angles Converse, Alternate Exterior Angles Converse, Consecutive Interior Angles Converse, Transitive Property of Parallel Lines 3.4 – slope, slopes of parallel lines, slopes of perpendicular lines 3.5 – slope-intercept form, point-slope form, standard form 3.6 – distance from a point to a line, Perpendicular Transversal Theorem, Lines Perpendicular to a Transversal Theorem Three additional theorems: (they do not have names) If two lines intersect to form a linear pair of congruent angles, then the lines are perpendicular. If two lines are perpendicular, then they intersect to form four right angles. If two sides of two adjacent acute angles are perpendicular, then the angles are complementary. Chapter 4 4.1 – triangle, interior angles, exterior angles, corollary to a theorem, scalene triangle, isosceles triangle, equilateral triangle, acute triangle, obtuse triangle, right triangle, equiangular triangle, Triangle Sum Theorem, Exterior Angle Theorem, Corollary to the Triangle Sum Theorem 4.2 – congruent figures, corresponding parts, Third Angles Theorem, Properties of Congruent Triangles (Reflexive Property, Symmetric Property, Transitive Property) 4.3 – Side-Side-Side (SSS) Congruence Postulate 4.4 – leg of a right triangle, hypotenuse, Side-Angle-Side (SAS) Congruence Postulate, Hypotenuse-Leg (HL) Congruence Theorem 4.5 – Angle-Side-Angle (ASA) Congruence Postulate, Angle-Angle-Side (AAS) Congruence Theorem
