The Sun
The sun has enough
energy to heat the water
on the Earth’s surface,
changing it into water
vapor or gas.
Evaporation 
Gas form of water
As soon as the water is
changed into a gas it rises
into the atmosphere.
Transpiration
The extra water that plants don’t use
Usually there are droplets on the plants
leaves
These droplets are called dew
By noon the water has turned into vapor
Condensation 
Liquid form of water
The tiny droplets in the
water vapor stick together
forming clouds.
Precipitation 
Solid or liquid form of
water
The clouds become heavy
and let out precipitation.
Forms of precipitation are
snow, hail, sleet, and rain
Collection
All the water collects into larger
water areas.
Brooks, streams, lakes, ponds,
rivers, and oceans are collection
areas.
Percolation
The seeping of water into
the soil
Ultimately the water collects
and accumulates as ground
water
Groundwater
Water that’s beneath the
Earth’s land surface forming
a waterway
Carving large caves into
rocks
Runoff
Excess water that is not
absorbed by land
Water flowing down from
streams and rivers into the
ocean and lakes
